I have a few of these and upon opening them i am pretty sure they have actual compound on them versus pads but its hard to tell since its pretty mashed and old
Anyways on a Y7 i changed it to MX4 but the laptop is getting pretty hot and very laggy due to the heat

So i before i get back in there i wanted to know if it needs pads or is the compound fine

Normally with other non toughbook models i use copper shims etc; but on TB i tend to leave them all stock due to the millions invested for r&d

On my T8 there it was a thermal pad. The only problem is to detach the keyboard from the clips and also the adhesive between the parts of the body under the keyboard.
