It is a SAMPLE, so it's hard to tell what it really has or if it is upgradeable or not.
I had a FZ A1 SAMPLE once. It had bare minimum ram and not upgradeable. Sockets were missing for WIFI/WWAN etc.. I could not even flash the BIOS to eliminate SAMPLE status. I dumped it as parts.

I hope it is more usable than other Toughbook samples.

but the CPU is quite powerful than the others which is I am happy about..

    yes it is VERY early.
It is a sample (DEMO)sent to dealers BEFORE it went on sale.

Very clean. And a very good price.
I hope everything is functional and/or can be added/upgraded.
I am skeptical because of my previous experience with SAMPLE units.

i hope you asked him if you can get into the bios. Last thing you want is one with a bios password. FYI...that is something we can not talk about on this forum

All you can do is wait and see.
I imagine the biggest thing is WIFI. Some Gov't models had WIFI totally disabled in the bios. That can sometimes be cured with a usb stick or a PCMCIA card. Crossflashing the bios can be next to impossible on a mk3. I have had to remove bios chip and replace it on certain models. The CF31 mk3 is on that list.

Seller did say he had Win7 installed on it.
The info page shows 4gb ram. Those are both good signs.

    Yeah shawn.

He sent the CF-31 now! and will be arrivibg Friday// Ill keep you updated....

I have a project now I flash Windows 10 pro in CF-U1 MK2 Ultra.. and its amazing... lol

    ALl works

Yeah base on the images the CF-31 has windows 7 Pro x32 bit and activated. Regarding the bios I really hope that it doesn't have a password.. Or else im stuck in x32 bit.
It has a much powerful CPU too.

Back in 2 years ago I remember I have a HP ProBook which has a bios password but I manage to remove through HP software too.

I don't know in Toughbook though. Hopefully it doesn't have a password.

Sounds like you might have scored well. I'm happy with Mk 3 CF-31 that i got from a local Oz seller (reputable). Mk 4's hadn't really come available in the used market here at the time, but maybe they are now.

    Hello just a question guys.

I am planning to upgrade the ram of CF-31 Mk3 that i have. I tried to open the ram cover and boy its tight. I have use a smaller screw driver that stuff my screws and then use the right size so im lucky i did not damage it.

I installed my spare ram for my CF-19 Mk7 (CF-WMBA1304G) but the specs is different from the original installed inside. please see images below.

I have not experiencing any problem so far and planning to clean install windows 10 on my rdo.

Can anyone please help regarding the difference between the two ram?\

Also there is a copper cover on top of the original so i just put my spare on top of it because i dont want to unscrew it..

Seems like this Toughbook screws has never been removed or open.

The memory chips are not matched. They have a different density and speed. There is a chance that you will get random errors and lockups under heavy useage.

Thanks Shawn for the reply. Would that be an issue about the copper plate? is that a heat absorber?

    because i dont want to open it again.;

Could case heat, shorting or radio frequency interference issues.
It's a 15 minute job to tear it apart.

Take the time and do it right.

They are compatible but the faster memory will only run at the speed of the slower memory. Will it cause problems...good question. Years ago I was installing mixed memory and I did have problems. Was it because of the memory, good question. Now I only install in matching pairs and I mean not just speed wise but brands too

    From Tom's Hardware
    http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/349524-28-difference-10600-12800
The 12800 refers to a data rate of 1600MT/s while the 10600 is 1333MT/s so the faster 4GB module will be underclocked to run at the slower 1333 rate for uniformity which should not cause any issues, as long as the timings also match, especially with performance since 1333MT/s DDR3 is plenty fast for average everyday computer usage.
