So I've got a CF-08TX1BX1M MK I that I picked up from fleabay specifically to use for reading ebooks. I've got it connecting ad hoc to an old pcmcia Proxim 8480 card and the remote desktop is working. I'm using Calibre to manage my ebook library. Overall this is a much more satisfactory solution than the CF-VDW07 where the screen resolution was not as good as I would have liked. So any idea whether or not the radio in the CF-08 MK I can be upgraded and if so with what mini pci card or whatever? And is there any way to upgrade the OS from WINCE 5.0? I'm hoping for better drivers for the radio in particular. As is, the CF-08's wireless connection strength fluctuates enough that sometimes turning a page is annoyingly slow. Next I was wondering if there is the equivalent of a recovery cd/dvd/image for this CF-08 for sale? Or any other images that are not WINCE 5.0 based, some flavor of linux perhaps? I've checked panny's .ca, .com, and .jp support websites and only found a BIOS update and user manual on the .ca page, user manual and MK II specifications pdf on the .com page, and user manual and FAQs on the .jp page. I also found one of the other kind of manuals, but it wasn't very enlightening for anything other than how all the parts fit together. Currently both the ROM version and embedded controller version read "V1.10L.10 / Generic" under Control Panel -> System Properties -> Information.

The cf-08 are just like the p1 series, they are hard coded for that OS. You cannot "reimage" them without reprogramming the entire chipset.
