    CF-18 & CF-VDRRT2 cd rom Issues

    I need help!! I just bought a CF-18 and it came with the external cdrom and floppy drives, When i plug in the CF-VDRRT2 CDROM drive it comes up as a generic CDRCB04 USB device under drvice manager and i can not see the drive in windows, i plugged it into another computer and it works fine, Please help

    Here is help.
    Hookup cd to the closest to the front usb port.
    Restart cf-18, hit F2 to enter bios.
    Go to advanced menu,
    Enable Legacy USB Support.
    Go to boot menu
    One of the options there should say USB CDD: xxxxxx(the xx’s being your cd model #)
    Restart and report back.

    Still showing up as Generic CDRCB04 USB Device, Should i try to disable legacey support then re-enable ?

    Your toughbook may not be putting out enough power on the USB port to power the drive. Did you try powering the CD drive externally? Also you can use the other USB port for power with the appropriate connector.

    tried powering it up with the other usb port with a cable from a external hd,still same issue,tried powering it up from another pc's usb port,still same issue

    Is there a switch setting for external power? perhaps it's set for internal power?

    There is some switches on the cdrom drive, but i have no idea what there for, i did try setting them the oppsite from what thery where, but again no luck

    ITS FIXED.....Now this is crazy to me....but it worked, i uninstalled and reinstalled Roxio software......AND POOF the cdrom drive appeared, thank you for everyone who posted :)

    Well if you woulda told me u had that crappy software on it I woulda been able to tell u that LOL! :p... okay, glad u got it fixed :)
