Had to reinstall the wlan driver (2200BG) and it now works fine.
However, the Intel Connection Utility got installed with the driver and is reporting that no supported WIFI adapters are available!
No big deal but it would have been nice to have used it to quickly switch the wifi on and off since there is no button on the front.

Incidentally, the Toughbook model is a CF-18DOA39MA.
    What MK? is this?

    Thanks.

Most of us don't use the Intel Utility because windows does a fine job handling it. We just install the drivers.

    Fair enough!

The laptop mainly gets used for vacations and a previous driver was causing BSOD's!

For some reason the driver only version didn't connect.
Is there a prescribed method of replacing the driver?
I uninstalled it but of course on reboot XP found it again so I effectively had to overwrite it with the .exe installation file.

Yes that has happen to me a few times  . All I did was go into windows setting and tell it to run my wifi.
