    Hi All,
First time here so please be nice :).

I tried searching and browsing for the answers to my questions but didn't have much luck.
Basically what I want to do is internalise a HSDPA(/UTMS/3G) modem into my Toughbook cf-18.

I purchased an Option GX0201 GT MAX PCMCIA card, but as many of you have probably already discovered, it sticks out way too far to be able to shut the pc card door.

What I need is to get a modified pc-card modem (that will allow me to close the door), modify my pc card slot (so i can squeeze the option card in), or find an alternative solution (such as some sort of internal modem). Please help!

    Thanks in advance,
    Andrew

disassemble the plastic-house from ur option card, cut it smaller with a dremel like tool and maybee u have to abrase a little bit from the board. I had the option- card with the wing-like-antenna and the pcb is on the outer side only as ground area to get a better signal. This is, what u can cut away and adapt the house to the new dimensions, which will now fit to the closed PCMCIA-door. But But before u now jump around and think, this is an easy job: No, it isn't! Probaply u have to unsolder the very small antenna-connector to change his position. Be carefully. I had done this once and don't want to do this again....

Yes, the door will close with a suitable antenna connector. The connectors that will fit are discussed at this place some weeks ago.

Next to the port replicator connector there is an u.fl connector for the original internal wireless modem. Connect the cable you made to this connector and it should work. At least it does on my Mk2 touchscreen and digitizer.
