I have picked up two CF-29 sleds that still have the factory GPS module in them. Is this the same module they used in the CF-18? I don't have the internal board needed to make this work on my CF-29 or CF-30, but I do have a couple of extra CF-18 boards that I can add GPS too. I would just need the "bump" for the antenna. Not in a rush to try and put it in my CF-29 since I have a good aftermarket kit on the way.

This does look promising for a swap to a CF-18. I took the module out of the CF-29 sled and put it on a daughterboard with bluetooth. Only one factory screw hole lines up. But there is enough room to redrill to make it work. I put the daughterboard into a MK1 CF-18 I had and the gps showed up in the bios. I found some GPS antenna covers on eBay today so I ordered them. I think I have two screws long enough to hold the cover on. Looks like tonight I will be doing a lot more picture taking and see how this goes. Try this out in a MK3 and MK5 also to make sure it shows up in bios. I will have more pictures up later and let you know how or if it works in other marks.

did anyone ever make a "bump" cover for the GPS?
if there were a call for it, I could, or make a custom one for a different antenna.. my wife has one on hers I could copy -

This was already been discussed somewhere a year ago. The cf-18 and cf-29 toughbook gps uses the same module and it also can be use on CF-19 and CF-30 but it need some works. First to mod is the cable interface coz it is on reverse and then the mounting area where to install on CF-19/30 but it can be handle by an industrial double sided tape which is tough enough.
