Hello, first post here !
i just bought a CF-18 MK2 CF-18DHAFXGL.
It was, i guess, a part of decommissioned laptop from Gov. or LE because the HD was erased with Blancco.
This software wrote a report on the master boot record.
I can't go after this report !
I tried several solution to boot on my usb flash but nothing !
USB are "working", i can charge my iphone
So before asking for a recovery CD, i want to find why i can't boot on a usb and if they are a easy way to check that ?
Already done :
-changing boot priority on BIOS
- try the usb boot on other computer (working)
Thanks !!
Also, apparently, blancco let the drivers ? I can change the brightness with the front button & fonction key

From the Blannco website.
Knowledgebase: Operating system re-install questions
When I boot my computer the first thing I see is a Blancco report. How can I remove it?

Blancco Erasure Client stores erasure report on the hard disk drive's master boot record (if the feature was set on before the erasure). To remove the report, boot the computer with a Windows boot disk or Windows installation CD and enter the repair prompt mode. Run the following command: "fdisk /mbr". This command re-writes the boot sector and removes the Blancco report.
Google for example "windows boot disk" for more information on how to create a boot disk and restore the boot sector. You can also visit Bootdisk.Com for more information. -
Thanks for the quick answer.
I found the solution, but i'm little embarassed.
I have to switch usb key first on BIOS...
I mistaken "usb cd/dvd drive" with "all usb stuff"
It's only after a triple check than i expend the menu...
I was able to rewrite the MBR, now i'm ready for a fresh instal.
Do you have a advice or link here ?
I spend the last hours reading some long and painfull story, often happy end but if i can go in the right direction the first time, would be nice !
I also read the sticky, i have a xp key and i'm not begging for a torrent
Thanks
Some picture of the beast.
I'm almost sure it's new, no a scratch on it, even a single one in the speaker.

I guess I'll found how to instal a blank MK2 in the CF-18 Thread list ?
I'm a newbie (also in Toughbook ((also in installing os) so no MP yet, i have to ask my question here, sorry.
Basicly i'm not sure if i need a xp pro or xp tablet for a touchscreen + i can't find the right drivers order installation
I promise to make a solid post on "how to instal a blank MK2 from scratch"
Thanks.
Also if you like challenge i can make the same for a old CF18 MK1 digi, with no wifi, no digitizer, no hot key in working order
I have carefully read this thread : http://forum.notebookreview.com/panasonic/669512-cf-18-mk1-stylus-wlan-issues-3.html
Almost the same issue, but the story end with a restore discs for a CF-18 Mk1 digitizer sended by panasonic.
I can't PM now + i don't wanna spam so i'll ask him if its possible to sale a copy ? (i'm new here, no idea if i break the etiquette, sorry)
thanks !!
Edit : i'm stuck at this stage for the MK1 :
I open the registry but no clue nor on google.
Noob question ? I guess, but it'll be the last time i ask this question
Thanks -
To add a .reg file to the registry, double click on the file and answer yes when it asks if you want to merger the file into the registry.
-
Simple as that ?
Haha thanks, i just do it now but doesn't work
But i mess the instalation, wrong order maybe so not a big deal
I'll post a WTB for a recovery CD -
"Ok. after uninstalling Wacom native driver (xpte_vista_minidriver_only.zip) and adding caldata0.reg to registry, it works after reboot. "
You have a touchscreen model, not a digitizer model. You don't need the wacom driver.toughasnails likes this. -
This is for my old MK1, edited my previous post for clarity
