In a funny turn of events which I could only laugh at myself about, my LCD got smashed while I had it disassembled repairing the touchscreen on my laptop. I have been looking all over the net trying to find out if an LCD from a MK4 can be swapped with a MK3 or below to no avail. I have found part numbers that suggest otherwise but no thread or link directly addressing the question.

I have been debating at this time also if I should swap to a Digitizer but not 100% sure if I want to go that route so any suggestions would be appreciated. It going to be used in the car and outdoors a bit.

So to sum it up; can an LCD from a MK1 - MK3 CF-18 be used to replace a broken one in a MK4?

    Thanks in advance.

I would say yes.... But I'd nix the digitizer swap.... Not sure that would work...

I have been told that if this motherboard is from a touchscreen unit then you will need to replace it with a touch.....Digitizer will not work, sorry :(

Thanks for the input. I will just hang with the touchscreen then. :)

Maybe the LCD panels are the same , that would make sence
Some lid parts were changed on the mk4 and mk5

On my two units at least the LCD panels are the same and the digitizer was just glued to the back of it but was easy enough to peel off.
