    So,

I got a buddy to get me a 1G stick of PC2700 RAM for the 18. (18D). Comes in, installed, didn't work. Computer wouldn't even boot. I look with a magnifying glass, and the RAM pins aren't lined up with the socket teeth. No amount of wiggling helped.

So, I am reading the specs, and the manuals all say 200 pin PC 2100 DDR SDRAM.

I look on eBay, and I can't seem to find any 200 pin PC 2700. It all says 184 pin.

Looking at PC 2100, the most I can find is 512M. I really want a 1G if it will take it (others here says it will).

I tried to find the specs on the stick that's installed, but came up zip, and I am too lazy to count pins on it.

How am I bungling this up?

    -Shawn

    oops...

I guess I am too impatient. I started searching pc 2700 1G "200 pin" DDR SDRAM and found a few. A lil' pricey... :/

    Thanks

Rick do you suggest this (Crucial 1GB 200-Pin DDR SO-DIMM DDR 333 (PC 2700) Laptop Memory - Retail $37.99) as an upgrade for the CF-18DHAZXKM using DDR1 type memory?

I order that RAM for all Toughbooks using that type... Not all do... (The one you listed does however...)

    Rick,
It may be the natural tendency of us all to be cheap. It was a lot less painful buying a 1gig stick of DDR2 ram for the MK4 CF-18. I think the Kingston was $9.95 with free shipping from NewEgg on one of their specials. I see that DDR stick is often over $50 if its not on special.

    Speaking of RAM for CF-18's, I'm told that a mk2 cf-18 doesn't take a 1 GB module (highest 512 MB like with a mk2 and mk3 cf28).

That info is direct from the operating/reference manual

    It is out of date

The Cf-18 are compatible with 1 GB modules

I have an "early" CF-18 mk1, and even though the Panasonic manuals indicate that the largest module that can be added is 512 MB, some RAM manufacturers list that top end at 1 GB. While those RAM guides may not always be 100% accurate, in this case I was successfully able to add 1 GB to that CF-18.
