    Hi,
I've seen this asked before, but that thread's been closed quite a while ... Does anybody have schematics for the CF-18KHH64BE?

You need an email address for them to be sent to... The schematics will not match your model exactly but will be for an MK4.

The thread was closed because the schematics ended up for sale on ebay by the person I sent them to. We are here to help...not to line some ones pockets with $$$$ ...I think you can understand what I mean.

What exactly are the schematics? Is that like a break down of parts and stuff?

I don't mean to sound rude.... But if you don't know what schematics are... You are lost on this one.

Service manuals show parts and part numbers... Schematics show wiring diagrams.

Ah yeah, I actually just found some examples. That stuff is out of my league on computers. I'm barely comfortable with our "EWDs" on cars at work.

What is it that you are trying to do? Or want to do? You don't always need schematics to mod stuff!

To be completely honest, I simply don't know WHAT to do now. I'm not great with computers, but I've learned a tremendous amount with these Toughbooks and I've gotten a bit addicted to tinkering with them. I have two CF-19 MK1s and one CF-18 MK5. I've finally gotten all three of them wiped clean, restored and working pretty much like new, so now I'm all out of fun.I do plan to try replacing the touchscreens in the 19s at some point. I mainly just check in on the forum here to see if there's anything interesting and new that applies to the 18s and 19s that will get my gears turning again. When I saw something about schematics, I thought "Oh, something new to read!" haha. I'll keep on checking in periodically. Thanks for the reply!

You COULD add GPS.... If you can solder at all this is a fairly easy mod... But you would have a lot of reading to do. Other than that you could try maxing out what you have... Adding a SSD, maxing out RAM, tweaking the OS... There is all sorts of stuff.

Or you could be like the rest of us.... Just go out and buy another! LOL Try a CF-29 or CF-30. You'd love them... You can actually type on them!

I won't lie, I have actually looked around several times thinking about getting a CF-30. I've exercised my right to Google A LOT over the past few months in my efforts to get these working perfectly again. A lot of my help came from reading threads and resources here. I can't believe the effect these things have had on me. A laptop was a laptop until I started playing with Toughbooks. For absolutely no good reason, I want to build up a damn collection of them. It's ridiculous, but they're pretty cool. I'm sure a CF-30 is in my near future, and I'll be keeping myself busy with it until I get it the way I want it.

LOL... Yes... The "slippery slope"... They are SO cool you cannot own just one! I can't even count how many I have.... Mostly CF-30s... But I resell them so I get to play and mod then sell. So my addiction pays for itself.

    Hi Again,

I don't suppose I could get schematics for the CF18's WWAN/Bluetooth/GPS daughterboard as well? :D

Hi all, my first post and I would like to receive a copy of the CF-18 schematics as well, I have a Mk3 digitized version that has battery charge and indication
issues, I fit a new battery and the charge indicator starts orange then goes to flashing red, It won't run without the ac adapter plugged in.
    Cheers John

Well it's telling you that the battery is no good. I can send you the Schematics but really they are not going to help you unless you can understand the below picture...

What Blair is trying to say is that the symptoms you describe are indicating a dead battery. When you say you have fitted a new battery do you mean a new Panasonic OEM battery or an aftermarket unit. If it is a Panasonic unit it is highly likely that it has died of old age on the shelf, they do that after 4 or 5 years. If aftermarket, who knows.

Cap, Blair, I bought it on fleabay but since reading post here, I checked, it is Chinese :(, I also have changed the BIOS setting to High Temperature, now the green led flashes meaning the system is waiting for the charge level in the battery to drop. It stayed like this overnight while in "recal". Still need the schematics when available, I hate to post drivel just to get the required number of posts...

I just purchased a CF-19 mk2 with GPS and 3g modem, so this one might live in the cupboard
    Cheers John

What is the full model number of your CF-18??????? , should be 7 letters or numbers . It's best to get it from the BIOS first screen. It is on the bottom on the white tag but some one might of put another bottom on it...BIOS is always right .

Does anybody have schematics for the CF-18 (Mk4) still ? Need to find out where to take power for my GPS. Used the FFC 50 pin connector VA5 for power but it remains on at all times.

I had the same problem with my CF-29 (power on all the time even when the computer was turned off).
I bought a cheap $2 spst switch and mounted it where the fingerprint reader normally goes.

Found a solution. in the CF-18 audio board CN700 pin 1+2 is 3.3V supply which is ON only when needed. Took GND from the same CN700 pin 8+9+10. On CN16 (base board 50 pin FFC) grounded pin 12 (GPS present)
connected pin 14 GPS_TX to GPS module RX pin 13 GPS_RX to TX on the GPS module ,everything works fine. The GPS module I used is GY-GPS6MV2 has internal 3.3V regulator so the 3.3V input is a little low for input
perhaps , but the loss is minimal , after the regulator measured 3.2V which is okay. But, I still would be happy to get a CF-18 schematics, my email is <user name> at gmail...pl 2014_03_23 098.jpg s

    Re : CF-29 switched power
Opened my CF-29 and by trial , found 5V supply which goes on and off. At the PCMCIA slot there is a Sharp regulator with 5 pins and beside that C359 block capacitor , there is it. Try pulling +5V from the
capacitor , you can solder on it directly (don't be long). Soldered my GPS on it and it looks OK , it can supply the 80mA what the GPS takes .
