Good luck. -
Hmmmm... All I see is that it is a 1.1GHz, touchscreen, 40GB drive & 256 base RAM, XP Pro, non- North America.
PM me your email address and I'll shoot you the service manual... -
The ebay seller that is linked is buying the various covers for $3 from Heartland and marking them up 500%... I'm sure someone here can hook you up. We order from Heartland all the time and can get them for way less. Besides... He doesn't ship to Ireland. -
Hi Toughbook,
You have made me relise that I did not say which service manual I was after.
The service manual I am after is the one with the pinout of the connectors on the motherboard.
Would you know if heartland would post to Ireland. If they did I would order myself fro them as I have a friensd that has a CF-M34 with missing covers as well.
Thank you to all that has replyed to me -
Okay... So not the Service Manual... And not the Schematics... But the board layout diagram is what you want? Just let me know and I'll email it to you.
I most likely have the cover you need for the CF-18 as I just ordered a few extra. But the CF-M34 I do not have... Perhaps someone on the forum can speak up that has an extra... -
Hi Toughbook,
I have got info that I wanted from you schematics and another service manual that my friend got from somewhere. I am hopping to do the bluetooth mod to this laptop instead because I like the way CF-18 is so portable.
what is the biggest drive that cf-18 will support.
Thank you for all your help. -
160 to 250 you might have to partition the the drive into two so the the o/s is smaller than 137GB

Alex... I had a customer today saying that he was putting 320GB hard drives into CF-28s and seeing it all of it... His email.... I bit my tongue...
Older Toughbooks use a IDE Drive there also called EATA & PATA - IDE has a max size of 320Gig currently and the newer SATA are not the Same! or Compatible - I just got finished Cloning a 60 Gig drive to a 320 Gig and installing it into a CF-28 - No Problem it's not a Bios issue it's more of the correct Drive and a 32 Bit Format or NTFS Format and the way the File allocation Table reads the Sectors and Clusters.
The Older 16 bit format of early computers definitely had Size restrictions and we had to have Multiple partitions to get around the size limitations.
Make sense? -
The question is not whether a large drive will work so much as to what is available
The on-line store that I deal with has only two new 2.5” ide drives listed now
The Samsung 160GB and a Western digital 250GB
We were complaining a year or so ago about the discontinuation of the 7200rpm Hitachi ide drive
Well in a years time from now I believe we will see 2.5” ide drives dropped completely
As far as the capacity issue and bios limitation
If the laptops bios can see the full size of the drive I feel comfortable in installing without partitioning
If the bios can only see 137GB I recommend two partitions, with the first being less than 137GB
Alex -
i definitely have a 160gb hard drive in my cf-18 mkII. the bios recognises it all, and after partitioning, windows xp is reading total size 149gb
-
The mk-1 might not recognize the full size
You will not have any issues then with your mk-2

Hello Toughbook, I have been looking for a service manual for my CF18. I saw this post and joined in the forum. Could I kindly ask you to email me the CF18 service manual too.
Thank you -
What model number do you have? (CF-18XXXXXXX) Though they are pretty much the same.
EDIT: I went ahead and emailed you the MK1 version... They are all similar... -
Hi, silly me, still learning -
model is:- CF18 DHAZBKE
Thanks -
I sent the manuals that cover that model.
Kismit! -
Hi to all,
I have been up to my eye with computer repaire (that dam fake antyvirus software 2009/2010).
I ordered the covers for cf-18, CF-M34 and a arial for CF-M34 from Hartland
on 8th Dec and got them today from the us to ireland in 3 days.
Now thats what I call service.
Thums up for Hardland. -
Ahhh.... To be in Ireland.... I've always wanted to go there...
Glad Heartland got them to you quickly... But then you probably traded them your left arm for shipping! -
I did not have to traded my left arm. I nerly bough an arial off ebay for the same price for one 2nd hand.
I bough it from hartland because it would be new and work without a loss, and the price of shipping was very good as I was guaranteed to have it in 3 days and it went though coustoms and had to pay nothing.
I have gotten other items off ebay from the US and it cost the same and it took weeks to get here and it also went though costoms with had to pay as the invoice in the box was diffrent from the one on the out side.
