This may be a silly question!

Can someone explain the functional difference between touch screen and digitizer? I have not been able to find anywhere where this is explained in layman’s terms?

Further question; if I’m running mapping software, with GPS on a digitizer version, would this enable me to make notes on the map, and save them for recall later? (this is not a feature of the mapping software – Memory Map)

How do you identify if it’s a digitizer or touch screen version, and can this be identified from the serial number?

The touchscreen you can use your finger or what ever but the digitizer screen you can only use the digitizer pen . The stylus from a touchscreen will not work

Go here Panasonic Toughbook Configurator and put in your full model number CF-18??????? . Also the stylus hole where you store it on the CF-18 is longer than the touchscreen

Someone else might be able to help you on that one  . Would a screen shot help
