Model number should state its a touchscreen, and it does have a serial port on the rear
I had windows XP sp3 installed and couldnt get the touchscreen to work, so now went with the tablet ver
Followed the driver install step by step and the front buttons work, but touchscreen does not. And thats the main thing i need of course

Touchscreen is enabled in bios and drivers installed from the toughbook site and still nada

Well to make sure it isn't a software problem download ubuntu 10.10 ( I think 11,12 have the touch driver live too) if touch won't work with the live cd you may have a dead touch screen. I have come across several on the CF-18's I have worked with. My Mk5 with gps worked good and one day it just stopped here about this time last year. I haven't messed with it much since I got my 19.

According to the model number it is a touch model, it also states a xp pro coa that indicates touch also.

Yeah... The touchscreen may be bad. Or you may not have had the right driver loaded at the right time.

Do you have a Recovery Disk for this model or did you load your own XP Pro?

    No recovery cd.
Didnt come with a hard drive so i had to install one and i put xp pro on a flash drive and installed that way
Then did the same when i formatted and installed xp tablet

    Device manager shows the touchscreen/pad
I have ubuntu on a flashdrive guess ill give that a shot

Ubuntu 10.10 is what we (Jeff) have found to work "out of the box" for touchscreens on Toughbooks.

Ubuntu 10.04 touch doesn't work out of the box, 10.10 does. I still choose it today over 11 and 12 on my older toughbooks.

Well that means your touch is gone. You could try the restore disk but my guess the same thing will happen

I have always had the idea of manually altering the calibration file to get it to work, it's easy to do under Linux. Not even sure where it's located in windows though.

Crap.. no point in getting a new screen. 80+20 shipping. I got this computer for 100 bucks
And too bad no way to edit the file on windows.. I use this for programming radios and such and the software only works under windows

Well! Not sure what has happen but my touchscreen is not broken. That error I got when trying to save the calibration must not mean the touchscreen is dead
I was running Microsoft streets n trips and I touched the center of the screen and the mouse pointer went to it. I was like !?

Did the calibration and it saved with no error. Restarted few times and still working.
Not a clue what caused this. Few mins prior to running streets n trips the TS still was sticking into the right side of the screen. And somehow opening streets n trips fixed it? Wacky!

Maybe someone els with the same problem should try and see if that fixes theirs lol if so... What a strange fix

Your touchscreen panel is failing. The solution can not be publish here coz of the fact if they know how. You can not find a better deal on ebay. Its trade secret that we are keeping for so long. Only a few guys here know how it can be repair. I never trust replacing it coz of the sealed on its side and corner. Panasonic has it sealed covered without any joint of it double sided tape while those on the market(third party materials has a multiple cut out on which is not good when you work on rain or dusty area. Let say open area or into outside elements). Yes! of course it works but the intergrity of being tough is no longer there.

If you want to play with iit the numbers are found in the registry.

    You have one failing circuit.

    Good luck.
