Both of my USB ports are "touchy", as in I have to wiggle the plug to get a connection sometimes. I reflowed the solder joints on both ports with no improvement. I soldered a cable on one of the ports for an internal bluetooth adapter. It works perfectly. Obviously I don't use this port anymore but the other port I use for a hard drive, USB hub, and a DVD drive. All three have the same problem. I have to wiggle the connector on all of them to get contact. The solder points on the motherboard look great. Is this a common problem on this model? Other than replacing the socket itself, is there anything else I can try? I've tried five different USB devices and four of them do this. They all work perfectly on other computers.
Also, I would like to move my internal USB connection to the CN16 connector but I couldn't find a schematic after searching. Can anyone help me?

We posted on this a few months ago
I have that issue on my 2 cf-18’s as well
Try using a short usb extension, and then plugging in the device from that
We found that most memory devices short two center pins were the main issue, not just worn out connections
And on the pinouts Ohlip will have to speak up on them

I've tried it with one extension cable, I think I have another one floating around. I'll give it a try. Thanks

I had also the same problem on my cf-18 and cf-19. The cause of this is, that the hole of the usb-port is a bit to big. If u twiggle up and down the connector ur device will lost the connection and reconnect and so on.
U have the option to find an other better fitting port or u can glue an little small thin sheet of plastic to the area on the ground of the inner side of the usb-port like I had done. It works great. -
I'll try that. I even thought about trying to slightly raise the two metal tabs on the bottom of the connector. I was worried that I might have an overused system but this thing looks brand new. It shows 3600 hours on the BIOS clock but everything else works perfectly. The battery even lasts for five hours or more with constant internet use. I'm very impressed with it!
