    Hi,

Anyone know a program I can use to over clock my cf-18 toughbook mk1 ?

It's running a 900mhz cpu, it's just not fast enough.

Anyway any help will be great

Given that they stuck a ULV CPU in there and while I'm no toughbook expert, it looks like it's fanless? If that's the case, I'd avoid overclocking. Also, it has a Pentium M which by this point is kinda an antique, if you can, I'd consider a new notebook instead.

i figured maybe they had thermal pad between the cpu and chassis. you could always see if it's socketed and try an upgrade but, watch temps?

    I own an (old) CF-18 MK4, its an 1.2GHz ULV pM with 1.5 GB DDR2 max. (512 onboard + 1GB module)

The MK1 uses DDR 1 so you are limited to 1GB.

I have not tried anything regarding overclocking, and, even if you software boost it, you'll not find a great difference.

You can't upgrade the CPU, its a BGA cpu (soldered on mainboard).

If you love toughbooks (like me) try getting your hands on a CF-19 (MK5 is Core I5) they are very similar and you have SATA (to stuff a nice SSD inside ^^ ) and you have models with up to 6500nits brightness...

The CPU is soldered to the mainboard. Overclocking is pretty much impossible on Toughbooks.

Mk1 max ram is 1256mb, what are you trying to run on it? You can do a few tweaks to the OS but you are still limited to what you can do. The biggest CPU they put in the CF-18 was a 1.2 Pentium M. If you really like the CF-18 and need more it may be time to get a CF-19. They are very, very close. You can even use the doors, keyboards, battery and Side screen covers on the Mk1 and 2 CF-19 from the CF-18's. A 19 would give you 1.06 dual core, max 4gb ram, and sata interface.

i wouldn't go as far to say note book OCing doesn't have it's merits but, being an ultra low votage chip... well sad face :(
