Hi all,
I have two CF-18 touchscreen (not digitizer) tablets. One machine 1, the touchscreen doesn't work (selects whatever is at the extreme bottom of the screen) and on the other machine it looks like the backlight has gone. The second machine had a bit of a knock and, since that time, I can vaguely see the Panasonic logo come up upon power-on, but nothing else.
My question is - Can the good screen from machine 1 be moved across to machine 2 (leaving the touchscreen elements where they are). If so, is there a tutorial somewhere how to do this?
Thanks, Malcolm

They can but to what end? If you have a good backlight with a bad touchscreen, and a good touchscreen with a bad backlight you are going to have to shift some components around to get the good backlight with the good touchscreen. Personally, I'm thinking that moving the backlight parts would be easier than splitting the touchscreen and the LCD. Someone will be along soon with a copy of the service manual. Post your full model number CF-18xxxxxxx to get the ball rolling.Welcome to the nut house

As Cap says post the full model numbers
I am guessing that the one with a failed touchscreen is a 1.2mHz model
The most likely fix for cf-18 #2 with a dead backlite is an inverter -
Machine #1 = CF18KHHZBBE
Machine #2 = CF18DHAZXKM
Machine 1 is a UK machine and #2 is a US model.

You disassemble both lids

Remove the inverter from the 1.2 machine and try it in the other
I think the inverters are the same -
OK, it wasn't the inverter. In the end, as I had both machines in bits, I swapped the screens and the one with the dead backlight now works, so it's the backlight itself that is faulty (can that be replaced separately?)
Now I have to order a 1Gb DDR1 SODIMM for the Mk2 as the card in the Mk4 is DDR2.
I should have tried this when they were still in bits, but would the touchscreen bevel from the Mk2 work in the Mk4? If so, I might swap everything back to have the Mk4 fully working. Where can I buy a replacement screen for the Mk4? -
