I belong to the Country Fire Authority (CFA) here in Victoria, Australia. We are a volunteer organization (over 60,000 members). In 2009 we had devastating fires with a large number of fatalities and property damage.

To try and improve our firefighting capabilities I have fitted a CF18 (CF-18DB22KA) in one of our command vehicles. Unfortunately when at our fire station it will not boot properly, as soon as it gets to the Windows screen it flashes a blue screen and loops back to the boot sequence. If I drive away from the station it boots normally. The wireless LAN works OK away from the station.
I strongly suspect the wireless LAN (WiFi) reacting to the VHF transmitters at the station. If I turn the wireless LAN off using the Intel PROset software it seems to work OK. I spoke to a tech support guy and he suspects that it needs a GPS patch - does this sound reasonable?

There are some LEDs and a hardware wireless switch on the front of the unit which do not seem to do anything useful. Sometimes the aerial LED flashes, and I can turn all the lights off by holding down the wireless power switch, but this does not turn the wireless LAN off

    Appreciate any help

Remove the proset software from add and remove programs ( its known to blue-screen )
Download the latest wi-fi driver from intel for your wireless 2200GB card and update that driver
Its called File name:ICS_x32.zip Version:12.4.4 32-Bit , you extract and manualy update the driver using device manager (don't install proset)
Set up windows to manage your connection
Note the led's have nothing to do with wi-fi they are for cellular WWAN

Thanks for that. Following some other advice I downloaded gpsfilter-050926a.zip and this seems to have fixed the problem. Not totally convinced as it is an intermediate problem.

I do not think the LEDs are for a cellular WWAN as the CF18 does not have one.

It might have been changed then
That is what those buttons and lights are for
Notice the mail light , when I first used wwan in a CF-29 mk-1 it would light up when a message was recieved
You will notice no effect on wi-fi when the buttons are pushed

I didn't think 18s came with WWAN? Can it be added?
