Hi, I have a CF-18 1.2GHz with 1.5Gb of ram and its a digitizer. The cursor started to go crazy and erratic on startup and I would have to shut it down a few times to get it to quit. Now it does it everytime and wont quit!! I went into setup anddisabled the digitizer and it quit but I miss using the stylus pen!! WHAT COULD CAUSE THIS? When I acts normal the digitizer works great. Any help would be great!!! Thanks, Curtis

Yeah I do have gps. Here is the model number CF-18KDHZAVM. I added a 1Gig stick of crucial ram also. How do you get the buttons on the front to work? What do they do? The only ones that work are the screen brightness and the one with the key on it opens task manager.

    Thanks, Curtis

Well! you need to download the gps patch from pan..site. Look above the FAQ and it will lead you to their site. Install the patches and reboot. Set enable or auto the gps on the bios. The erratic movement of mouse will stop or if you could search a bet on this forum you will find all the answer to your question.

BTW, you have an MK4 unit and welcom to the forum.

Yup... Download the GPS Registry Patch and install... That should take care of it. I assume you are running XP Tablet??? Was the OS installed from the Recovery Disks or was it installed from scratch and the drivers loaded after-the-fact?

    Hi,
Thanks for all your help! I bought this on ebay with tablet edition installed and apparently there hasent been many updates installed. I downloaded everything I could from panasonics site and now all the buttons on the front work and the cursor works perfectly.

Thanks again for the help!!! Curtis

Oh,I have the same problem,ANYONE help pls. The only brigtness button works and erratic cursor dancing. It made me crasy! Moreover i have noticed when i switching off GPS in BIOS and then ON again driver auto installation installs it as ..SERIAL MOUSE not GPS.I think this is the problem.I've downloaded GPS patch from Panasonic website but it doesn't help. Also have mentioned that GPS has stopped to see sattelites.
Any real working ways to solve it? Thanks all. CF-18KDHZAVM

As stated here and in your other post... Boot into your BIOS, disable your GPS, download the appropriate GPS Registry Patch Driver from Panasonic, install driver/registry patch, reboot into BIOS, re-enable GPS in BIOS (set to AUTO) then save and reboot.... Enjoy your GPS and fixed, non-jumpy cursor.

Please read some of the stickies posted around here... They explain a lot. The jumpy cursors affect a lot of Toughbook models with GPS installed.

This happens all the time with these middle-aged machines. I suggest you and your cursor get some counseling; it's probably just having a mid-life crisis. Let it get a fast car & chase some of those young icons around, and in a few months it'll be all erratic-ed out and come home to you.

You know it is amazing how art (and electronics) imitates life. This describes my entire relationship with my wife starting from the very beginning. Except I have a Porsche and she has a BMW... So we chased each other for a while.. I guess icons don't do that. ;)

Checking toughbook for nearly 2 weeks.Problem seems disappear! So if it wont come back the cause is Serial PS2 mouse drivers Which is absolutely useless and must be uninstalled to solve "dancing" cursor.Hope it will help to someone & i can also be useful sometimes :)))))
