    Hello, all.
I have a frazzled motherboard on my CF-18B. Found another CF-18B motherboard on Ebay, so I got lucky.
However, when I was getting ready to install the new one, I found that the old, frazzled motherboard has a metal connector at location CN19, while the new one does not.
I was wondering what this connector does, and if I will let the smoke out if I do not connect this.
CN19 is a metal strip connector, located between the video ribbon wire and a larger metal connector at CN18 on the bottom of the board.
    Any ideas?
Should I take it in somewhere and have them swap out the connectors? No way I can do soldering that fine.
    Thanks

Absolute wild guess cause I have never owned or touched a cf 18, but it looks like a video connector. Digitizer or touchscreen maybe? 2 different lcd options and each use different connector.

Was there anything connected there on the original MB? If not then don't worry about.

    Here's a view of a CF-18 "early" mk1 digitizer.

Old board has the connector, plus a cable running to it.
New board does NOT have the connector.
Questions are, will I let the smoke out if I do not plug it in, and if it's okay, what functionality will I lose?
    Thank you

Where does the connected wire go to?

Later marks show cn18 as being the keyboard.
cn8 is the touchscreen / lcd
    cn17 is for the inverter

What are the part numbers on on the boards?

    Something like DL3UP1277BBA or DL3UP1395AAA or DL3UPB471BAA
