I have a CF-18D and I was wondering if there is an advantage to doing the Windows Update to SP3 among other updates that I am sure will pop up. I am thinking about the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" policy may apply here.

I am running SP3 on a CF-28 and there is no real advantage to not updating. I did a before and after comparison using task manager and the SP3 version had fewer processes running and used a little less ram, but to each his own and this is only my opinion. If you spend a lot of time on the internet then I would recommend upgrading.

There should be no issues in updating to SP3
    It's worthwhile for security
You should be able to install all microsoft updates as well
The only updates to avoid are optional Net Framework
The later versions of Net Frameworkcan be an issue

I kept Windows XP on the mk1 updated with the latest and greatest from Microsoft...until I decided to go to 7. On systems still running XP, I have them updated to the latest...even the CF-07 brick.
