I go to save the calibration I get a error measage(parameter missing try again)also when I touch the screen curser darts off the screen to the right side, but will move up and down but not side to side.if you have had this problem and know the solution please help.

It's normal for these touchscreens. Sudden death. Say goodbye (buy and install a replacement).

Maybe dirt under the screen bezel, try to clean it with a credit card

. I do know my touch is gone and I would say yours is too. They don't have a very good track record

does any one know of a program that could be used to test weather it is indeed hardware or software?

No programs that I know of but check out this search I did on your problem and you will see its gone TEST site:forum.notebookreview.com/panasonic - Google Search . I gave up on mine. I have installed the OS/XP Pro 5 or 6 time using the restore disk and also used the regular XP disk and installed all the drivers and still no luck....it stills goes to the right like all the bad touch screens. You are looking at $200.00 to get it fixed. BTW mine is a CF-18KHHZXBM MK4

I just loaded a 11.04 Live CD (via USB stick). Touchscreen works out of the box on my CF-18 Mark5. It does not need to be installed. Just "try" from the menu.
There are things I do not like re: 11.04 but in this case it makes a good tool. -
Well thanks for everyone's input I will try umbutu and see if that works.Spoke to tech support at Panasonic they tell me needs a screen 1k but I think I will take it apart and see if there is a bad fpc or broken solder joint. I will post my findings when i find out what it is. if its a easy fix I will include pic's so it might help others.
thanks again for everyones input

I'll let you have the screen with new element off of my Mark5 for $1000.
In fact you can have all three CF-18's for that amount.
What you need....and I sent him an email this afternoon...is a new touch-panel. I'll let you know if he has any. About $100 shipped as I remember. The elements in the tape connector are so ever much better looking.
I'll be looking at my basket cases tomorrow. I could give you a yell if one of the touchscreens works though I think one is digitizer. The other one???? They got buried and are just coming to light.
Plugging and re-plugging (corrosion) worked for me once. But it sounds to my feeble ears as if you have a classic "bad touch panel". That's a literal microscopic separation. Get out the magnifying glass.

What's wrong with me.
After I put in the new touch panel it worked for a few days and quit. I eventually traced it out to a broken wire in the loom. Did a patch job with another fine wire connected inside the case and up near the end so the patch wasn't in the bend (circle).

Soldered and heat shrink.
Check continuity on your cable. Maybe?
Good luck. -
thanks for your input Sadlmkr I thought maybe the cable I have yet to disasemble the unit yet,But I think in the end it will be a cable the unit has no sign of being droped or abused I will keep you in mind for those you want to sell.

Thanks,
That was a semi-serious proposal by the way. The all three package. I'm thinking $700.
I have a Mark5 repaired new TS Panel. Two other basket cases, one digitizer the other TS. It's on todays menu to check the TS. I think the digi mobo is good but the TS has had someone inside with a rototiller. It has a board with USB sockets hardwired in the PCMCIA slot.
B model I think does not power up. Acts like a fuse.
I'm just not a CF-18 kind of guy. Big club-like hands. Feel like I'm working on a watch.
I checked with Andre (techtuff/tough). He is out of CF-18 panels..no eta on next ones. You could check continuity with a meter. Lift the keyboard open the hatch (pull the battery first), that will be one end and you will have to split the screen for the other. White plug, red wires.
Toughasnails, you should check this too.
Jeff Mr. know-it-all:laugh:   -
Oh yeah, definitely $700. The loose and floating around Touch Screen works. Woohoo.
