    Hello,

is there a special trick required for controlling the volume via the on-screen software keyboard on the CF-19 (touchscreen version)?

On the real keyboard it is Fn + F4 (on/off), Fn + F5 (lower) and Fn + F6 (louder). Now there is a Fn-key on the software keyboard as well, and if I press it, then the F*-keys turn appropriately blue and show the volume control icons. But if I then press one of those, nothing really happens. The keystroke is registered, the big blue volume-OSD shows up for a second, and the blue keys turn black again, but the volume always remains in the original setting.

This is particularly puzzling to me since I can control the screen brightness just fine using the software keyboard's Fn + F1 and Fn + F2 key combinations.

Any ideas? The manual is no help, and the software keyboard is the factory install.

    Cheers,
    Björn

On the CF-18s that I had... The Fn key was a sticky key meaning that it knew it had to stay down until you pressed another of the "blue" keys. That doesn't work for you?

Are you running XP or Tablet?

Yes, the sofware-Fn key works the same way for me in general, too - I can use it to control screen brightness, see the battery status etc. Also, I have now found that I can use Fn followed by F5 or F6 to switch the sound back on if it was muted before. But to raise/lower the volume or mute it again I have to go back to the physical keyboard. While the software keyboard seems to know that it is supposed to do something with the sound (the big blue sound icon will appear on the screen for as long as I press one of the blue software sound keys), it cannot actually change anything.

Oh, and I'm running XP Pro, factory installed. I have tried uninstalling the software keyboard and installing the latest version from Panasonic, but no change.

You may want to check the configuration on your Softkeys program; it may be configured to change a different mixer control than the MAIN volume - perhaps it adjusts the WAV or AUX IN control instead. I had a similar problem on my T1100 Tablet.
