    Hi,

I have been trying to upgrade my CF-19 Mk1 to Windows 7 but cannot get the XP to Vista BIOS update to run - I keep on getting an error 'this program will not run on this PC'.

    My machine details are:
    Model No: CF-19CHB23BE
    BIOS: V1.00L13 M14
    Embedded Controller: V1.00L11 M10

    Any suggestions?

Are there any bios updates available for this model - I can't find any around other than the Vista ones that don't work.

    Any pointers would be appreciated.

    Yes - XP Pro SP3

I have been trying to use the search facility but am getting a lot of 'Could not find phrase 'invalid_search_query'' error messages.

    .... hence the post :)

Try using Google and at the end of your search string put "site:notebookreview.com" Google can search this site MUCH better than the bbs search engine. ;)

The search function here doesn't see the "-" in CF-29... You may try CF29 or CF 29 in your search tems instead....

I ran Vista with my original xp bios file for over a year with no issues
I don't really know for sure why these files are released

I am running the Vista type bios file on my cf-19 running W7 and it updated the bios without problems

These files were released in two types of versions
One would update from a floppy disk and the other type updated the bios from within windows
If you check all the download sites listed in the sticky on the top of the forum you might find a different file that will work

If it was a simple driver file I would recommend using WinRar and unextract ,then run the file to avoid the “this machine does not support message” but a bios update is a serious action

I cannot recommend an upgrade if the end result may brick your cf-19

If you would like to update your bios put on your hard drive and run it it will extract files in a folder but on your hard drive run the exe files normaly iit work only if CF19 is connected to the charger .

Bios exist for XP Vista and for Seven MP me

Well it appears that there is some form of lock on my BIOS so that it cannot be upgraded via the windows installer, but I may be able to force the update via the DOS based updater. Failing that I could try to see if there is a physical switch on the motherboard.

    Currently I have V1.00L13 M14.

Does anyone here have a later BIOS that I could try other than the XP to VIsta (and vice versa) drivers?

    Many thanks.

Yes AWDFLASH.exe is one of the flash tools, but what I really need is one of the earlier dos based BIOS updates, assuming there were some.
