    Ok..
So I have been having "fun" getting sat lock on my CF-19 with internal GPS.
    It takes forever...

For giggles, I plugged in my USB BU-353 GPS Puck and got 8 sats instantly.

    Is this normal?

Hell, I get 4 sats usung USB indoors!

There are several threads on the subject but good luck getting any internal GPS to perform as well as the BU-353. You can get perfectly acceptable performance using ohlip's magic tricks.

My opinion of internal GPS has been made clear too many times to count. That being said, some forum members have installed aftermarket GPS, Sarantel antennae, messed with active patch antennae, etc, and managed to improve performance markedly. I'm not terribly interested in the subject so I'm not too sure of the current status of the mods, but I do know that Teo (ohlip) has been the chief innovator in this area. This is the part where you, who seem to be interested, do some reading and see what the boys have come up with.
