    I have a touch screen mk1 cf-19 toughbook.

Every time I try and calibrate the screen it says

"No suitable hardware was found to calibrate.'

"The Digitizer Calibration Tool supports calibrating only integrated digitizers."

Description: WinXP, Intel Core Duo U2400 1.06GHz (Centrino), 10.4" XGA Touch, 80GB, 512MB, Intel WiFi a/b/g/n, Dual Pass (UpperWWAN/Lower:WLAN), TPM, GPS, Bluetooth, Verizon EVDO Rev A, No Drive

There is a difference between touchscreen and digitizer.
Yours has a Touchscreen not a digitizer.

    What OS are you using?

If you are using Vista or Win& you will need to be using the Vista BIOS.

Bios_19_1_r080013.exe - For re-downgrading to Windows XP from Windows Vista

    I just installed XP sp3.

    No drivers or nothing else.

Do I begin the upgrade process now, or do I need to install the other drivers for XP as well?

I notice that there are Windows XP, Windows XP tablet 2005,and Windows XP sp3 drivers. If I have to install drivers, which drivers should I pick for sp3?

Are you going to keep win XP? Or are you going to go to Vista then Win7?

Here are the official drivers. Choose CF19C/D/E mk1...then Windows XP sp1.
Be sure to install in correct order.
Once you are done, verify that everything works properly.
If you want to go to Vista or Win7, you will need to update the BIOS as stated before.
XP uses a different BIOS than Vista/Win7.

Win XP sp2 and later have ALL of the components of XP tablet. There is no need to use XP tablet.

I planed on updating from XP to VIsta to Seven.

I got a good portion of the laptop up and going.

I got the calibration screen to appear!!!!! Something that didn't work before.

Now I have a a issue with a screen that's dimish, yellow, and the the accuracy is off by 3/4 of an inch.

Is it a bad screen? If so would a mk3 touch panel work with m1?

If I recall, a mk3 uses a different harness assembly.Yellow and dim is not good.

That sounds like it is out of calibration. Use the Windows calibration tool. Not the Panasonic/Fujitsu one.

You will not need to update to Vista. Just put XP on it and update the bios to the Vista bios then go to W7. That's how I did it.

a *yellowish* screen may be the RGB settings ...
in vista and W7 there is a way to set these ... not in XP .
you might want to load vista or W7 before going much further .
an option is to use the color settings in the intel video driver interface (for XP and the others as well) .
if you can't get any blue at all ... then there is a problem with the blue decoder/driver for the lcd .
there is a way to load a program to adjust the rgb in XP but it requires couple of other dlls to be installed .

as was mentioned , a ccfl and/or inverter could be going south .
the fix for this is to replace them both (many hours on both) .

purchasing a complete used top is another possible solution .

It's just a hint. of Yellow. Maybe it's because it's a older display.

I got it to calibrate correctly. Just forgot to click save on calibration.

Now my primary issues with the laptop is that the FN does not want to deactivate for some reason. When I type I get numbers. So now at the moment I have to hold down the FN button to type.
That and I can't use FN to change the volume or brightness of the screen. I'm also unable to use the tablet buttons.

Is the screen suppose to rotate when you use the tablet mode?

You need to do that because this will give you a idea if your touchscreen is good or not. If it saves it you are good but any error message means trouble.

Is your number lock key on ??

That's one of the problems with W7 that I was talking about.

What I am really trying to say is if you are going to upgrade to Vista then to W7 why worry about problems in XP . Once you start the upgrade process XP will be gone. You I hope will do a clean install.

I just want to make sure the hardware works before I upgrade the software. It would be assuring to know that the touchscreen works hardware wise so I could rule it out for troubleshooting for instance.

    8.2K hours ...
might just be the lamps starting to shift in spectral output .
sooo ... using one of the methods i mentioned should straighten things out ,

i'm with blair ... swap out for W7 and then you'll know what's real .
not much sense in trying to fix something that won't work eventually due to non-support .

    <----------------------------------------------------->
You will have to set the screen rotation positions first.
Go to Start> programs> Panasonic> display rotation tool, "click"
Then go to the taskbar and right click the taskbar icon (red and white and it may be hidden) and choose "settings".
Choose any combination of positions you like.

The display rotation tool is not there in the start menu, but I can access the software from the taskbar.

I try changing the settings by task bar and no cigar when I rotate the screen.

When the PC boots a pop up appears that says

    "Display Rotation"
    "Unsupported Touchpad Driver."

It threw up the error bad checksum, reverting the default setting.

I now have bios v1.01L16& embedded controller v1.10L11

Yet I can't use the touch screen now. Is this normal?
