My CF-19 has decided to give me the finger whenever I try to install a new USB device.
I have the latest drivers for each device, but upon completion of installation it gives me the error"can not initialize the driver for this device".
Running Windoze XP Pro, SSD, and everything else in my signature.
Any ideas are appreciated.

What device are you trying to install ?
-
3 different devices.
First 2 are 2-way radio programming cables from 2 different manufacturers.
Also, an outboard sound card/radio interface from yet another manufacturer.
All 3work fine on my CF-18MK4,with XP Tblet.

Done, thank you!

Does USB flash drive work?
-
Yep...
-
That's good
So it's not a laptop's problem
Try to uninstall driver (not just delete that device, but uninstall) then install again.
I see you are not a novice, but let's start from that
And one of possible solutions (fast attempt):
- Click to Start -> type cmd -> press Enter/Return: Command Prompt should be opened.
- In Command Prompt type sfc /scannow -> press Enter/Return: a system scan shall begin.
- Reboot.
- Click to Start -> type cmd -> press Enter/Return: Command Prompt should be opened.

Have been down the uninstall/reinstall/update path numerous times thus far.
Wil try the scan when I get back home (shortly)

Are you getting an error code with the error message? Maybe error code 37? Have you checked the system logs for error messages or alerts? Are there any exclamation marks in Device Manager, besides any for the devices you are trying to install. If you used an XP install disc and hand bombed the drivers, did you follow the correct order when installing, did you install chipset drivers? Questions, questions, questions.
-
Yes, all drivers were installed correctly, this is a recent problem, and no, I did not add anything else that caused this issue. Worked fine after Christmas, now nothing will install.
Yes, code 37 -
Do several different virus scans.
Run ccleaner..
Do a complete uninstall of all usb in device manager,
Download new usb drivers and install them.. -
You seem to have a defensive attitude. I asked those questions for a reason...clarity. You never said that the unit was running proper before you tried to install the USB devices. Nor did you mention the error code. You have been asked a few times if you used a factory restore disc, but never bothered to give a clear answer, not that it matters much since you said everything was good before the attempted installs.
You come across as one of those guys that show up and say 'I have a Panasonic and am having problems installing devices. How do I fix the problem?' When the problem is not fix right away, you start to get an attitude.
At this point I am going to wish you Good Luck and go do something worthwhile, like watch some races. L8R. -
No defensive attitude, just extremely frustrated. Have been fighting with ths for 2 months, been down every road, to no progress.

No restore disc. As stated in an earlier reply, ISO install.
Brian -
2 months? And you still didn't reinstall the whole OS? It's a few hours. -
No reinstall, as getting the GOBI 2000 was a nightmare and a half, and I am not sure I can stomach doing it again………
Brian -
ISO as in factory Panasonic ISO or Microsoft ISO?
Perhaps installing the GOBI "broke" something in the USB software..
I would make an Acronis image of the drive..Once you have done that, then you are free to screw it up while trying to fix the usb issue..If it goes tits up..use the Acronis image to restore and try again...... -
Micro$oft ISO.
The GOBI was installed around Thanksgiving last year, and things worked after that.
Have played around with Acronis before…
Thanks,
Brian -
Just for readers reference...quote on how you installed GOBI.
-
Oh yes, I have a text file of that post in several locations, thanks!
I just remember how horrid it was to do, and I am leery of undoing it……
