Hi, i'm new here and i'm french :hi2: (sorry for bad english, if this is the case)

Maybe I should do a presentation first ? don't know :D tell me

As for my concern, I recently bought a Panasonic Toughbook CF-19 MK2 from a guy in my class. He got it for free when it's company trashed it for newer models. Since I've asked him for a longtime if he was welling selling it, since I always wanted a toughbook, since my 3 years old "piece of s***" Dell laptop is on it's way out. He finaly accept to sell it, and he was nice selling it with a "dirt cheap" price (actually, I fell like I stole this thing :D, it was cheaper than to replace my Dell Inspiron N5010 battery.).

The laptop is in good condition, considering it's almost 7 years old. They're are only minor dents on the bottom. The lid is perfect and and every port cover are present. The touchscreen is working perfectly and the factory screen protector is present. The unit has considerable hours on it : 8690 hours !. I've upgraded it from XP to 7 and it works like a charm ! (except for the auto-rotate function).

But i've noticed than the LCD color are bad, the white looks yellowish, and the blacks are grey. Also the viewing angle are so bad than I can't see the screen without dark spot on it. The brightness seem also bad, it's quite dark (i'm used to LED backlight :D). I've blammed this on all the layers that are in front of the LCD since it's a touchscreen (not digitizer). But did you think that the CCFL could be the cultprit ?

    I've also notice 2 other issues :

    - The hinge has some play, it seem that it's never lock completely, is this normal ?
    - The battery has an index of charge of 37, it said that the full capacity is "lower" to the curent capacity (60700 mWh full capacity, current is 61910 mWh). The battery has a blue tab on it The battery onlly seem to manage 4-5 hours depending on the brightness and only 3-4 watching youtube videos.
Also when in sleep or shutdown the battery loose it's charge quite rapidly ! Is this normal ?

I'm new to toughbook, so sorry if those questions may sound "stupid" :D

    Thanks for your help !

Welcome To The Panasonic Toughbook Forum

8690 hours is really not a lot of hours , some of our 19's have a lot more than that on it. Dents on the bottom can be fixed fast with a new "Rating sheet" sticker...$20.00 . auto-rotate function...same here

All the layers...no . I had the same problem with my MK2 and I ended up replacing the LCD.

4-5 hours and 3-4 watching videos. Sounds good to me

Yellowing of the display is normal over time... Not so much hours. I have a CF-30 with over 30k hours and it has yellowed a little... But it is whiter than some of the older ones I have with less hours...

It's the losing charge in sleep/hibernation that bothers me... Does it have aftermarket GPS installed? What programs are on the run list?
