From what I read here in the forums the CF-19 is not able to boot from the internal SD card reader. So while I was looking for a workaround I came across PLOP: https://www.plop.at/en/bootmanager/index.html
Has anybody tried this or experience with some boot manager installed in MBR of the internal HDD/SSD and then booting off the SD Card?

I don't remember any one trying this program but I could be wrong . There was a couple members working on something like this but I really did not follow it only because SD cards are really not that reliable and the price of a spare hdd caddy + hdd is cheaper than a good high speed SD card.

    Sadlmkr has experimented with plop.

Yes I saw Sadlmkr's posts about PLOP but that was related to boot off USB from devices that lack the ability to boot from USB in general.
But with the CF19 things are different: it allows booting from USB natively but not from internal SD card (that is connected by USB internally).
Unfortunately a small USB stick like Sandisk CruzerFit does not fit under the cover as well.
A spare try and HDD would be overkill if I have to boot only 1% of the time from SD card...

How about a internal USB mod? That way the stick would be protected inside the case.

This would be great but I not found any info about this mod for the CF-19, only for other models.

    I haven't personally done it on a 19 yet but have on a CF-29 and a 30.

You need to start looking over the motherboard diagram and look for other stuff you can use. I know a fingerprint reader was a option, maybe you can mod that port.

Another option would be something like this.

    http://www.custom-toughbooks.com/index.php?main_page=popup_image&pID=191

It replaces your wwan board with a gps and then give you a place to put a usb stick of your choice there. (not sure where this one is located if it could boot)

Well I already have a GPS module so not really need this just for the reason to gain an internal USB.
There is no info about the fingerprint reader but since CN803 has 8 Pins I doubt it uses USB.
There are some posts about Connector CN41 for a camera but that does not seem to exist, at least not on MK2.

I have used these with good luck. I use it in the wwan slot.

Thank you very much, exactly what I am looking for!
Just two questions: you can boot from the USB stick in this adapter? How did you set the DIP switches?

I don't remember the dipswitch settings.
    You may need to experiment.

I never tried to boot but I can not see why it would not work.

The camera models used a camera model only motherboard.

That was just for a example on the usb plug on the gps.
