Hi all, not been around for awhile because the binned Vista and new install of WIN7/4Gb memory has been working great thanks to the forum massive skill base.

I never did get the WWAN/SIM to work with the Spanish 3G system but time and health stopped progress and it has not been too much of an issue.

So, now a USB port is playing up, many may recall I use the TB for mainly OBD work on vehicles, well one USB plugs into the vehicle and the other is often needed for my internet dongle to get hold of codes etc.

Thinking a later motherboard would be a good upgrade and tried a search but cannot find the posts relating to fitting a MK3 motherboard into my MK2, can someone help or was I dreaming it could be done?

Most of my English customers disappear to the UK when the weather gets hot in July/August so I am preparing to take some time off and give the TB an overhaul.

    Thanks in advance

    Tranquillo

It was already been discussed here a while ago. The thread maybe buried somewhere.

To answer your question. I'd say no. Majority of the parts has significant changes, like the LCD. It uses an Led backlight which has of course different circuit designed compare to CCFL tube. The LCD housing layout, the pcb board that control the touchpad, front botton is also diferent. I've just laught one time when I've seen one seller on ebay detailing his auction that the front botton is defective. He has no idea whats goin on.

Hi Ohlip many thanks for your reply. I knew there was a thread somewhere but as you say it is probable in the ether somewhere. I never got around to remembering my BIOS password but as the machine has been great it has not been an issue.

Anyway, I will now start looking for another MK2 motherboard and then rebuild my present machine.

    Many thanks again
