I am looking to add 4gb of Ram to my CF-19 (CF-19RHRAG2M) Which currently has 4gb of RAM, for a total of 8gb of RAM.
What is the best option in regards to reliability and cost. Perhaps something on eBay, has anyone had good results from purchasing RAM from eBay?
Installation: I am assuming the additional RAM is plug and play, are there any other steps required to installation other than sticking in the new RAM?
Thanks

HI! Did you checked already if it has a one stick of ram or 2x2gb. If it has 2x2gb, you will need to open up the bottom case in order to access the first slot. I do have good result with CORSAIR ram, 2X4GB, PC3 8500, 2004pin, 1066Mhz and the pair I've purchased is intended for MAC book.

Good point...I have to install my GPS next week so I will take a look then when I have it apart , if it has 2 x 2gb then I will buy 2 x 4gb.
These are just plug and play correct, or are other steps required? -
Yes! Its plug n play.

I think there is 32-bit Win7 now.

Ok Great thanks...
Do you have a link to the site you bought the ram from? -

I get all my memory from eBay. I would check your memory first to see what's in it. Just 4 screws on the memory cover.

Yes! That my new machine, lol........
Thanks for pointing me on that. Its typo error. 204pin to be exact.

Ok will do thanks.....

Yes you were correct I have 2 x 2gb.
Therefore I will buy 2 x 4gb sticks. I found the following for 70.86 (CAD) not sure how good they are but looks like the seller has sold a lot.

Well unless I missed it I see no brand name on the memory. I would pass on them. Stick with a well known brand name.

Look for Kingston, Samsung, Hynix etc.
And maybe it's easier/cheaper to buy newer memory like PC3-10600. It will work too
Usually there is no sense buying RAM at ebay, because prices for brand name (and actual generation) RAM are almost equal everywhere, and in your neighbor shop you can get better warranty etc. IMHO.toughasnails likes this. -
OK thanks I will phone around tomorrow....

Look, there is a sense to buy newer memory. It will be faster too.
Latency seems to be 6 vs 7. Gamers would kill for that difference, I guess)
Screenshots of my MK4.
There is a good choice of memory on amazon.ca -
latency aside , the ram speed will be limited by the buss speed and automatically throttled to that .
but , "newer" ram will often be cheaper than the "older" stuff .
the price of ram in the US can vary considerably between local shops , box stores , retail outlets and "on line" places .
about a month ago a local shop quoted me 80 bucks for 4 gigs of ram ... a retail store (office supplies , 'nuff said) wanted 75 bucks ...
i bought it at newegg for 32 bucks , free shipping and it was in my hands in three days . -

I had a major problem with my CF-19 Mk4 upgrading to 8gb, I 1st used kingston ram with 4 chips per side, part number:
KVR13S9S8/4
It worked BUT was not right in some way and would hang on loading some programs, I thought it was the O.S so I loaded that again & same problem, I got onto kingston and they told me the KVR13S9S8/4 is not compatible with the Mk 4, something to do with chip density, the Kingston is 8 x 512, 4 chips per side
I then ordered 2 x 4Gb Samsung mem 16 x 256, 8 chips per side and they work a treat
