I was wondering if anyone tried this combination. The new MK5 comes with this card. I already patched the bios to enable wwan and now just need to make sure it will work. Also, I downloaded the F5521gw driver for the new MK5 but it installs silently without any connection manager application. If anyone has the link for this it would be most appreciated

    Thanks

And you installed this in your CF-19 Mk4? Just used the Mk5 driver?

I wonder if it will work in a Mk2.

Actually, in my case, since hs2340 is HP branded F5521gw you can't use generic drivers. I had to download the drivers from HP website and decompile InstallShield installer to extract the drivers.

There are a lot of these cards from wasted laptops (HP, Dell, Lenovo) but the most common are HP (I wonder why :) ). Those are all rebranded models so in order to use the drivers you'll need to decompile installers like I did. But the good thing is that these cards can be found very cheap (HP, thanks again).

If you use WinXP you can download connection manager from Toshiba (very nice looking app with traffic monitor and SMS and GPS utility). If you use Win7 you don't need any connection manager since everything is already integrated in the OS (but I strongly recommend the Toshiba utility).

    Regards

I'm not quite sure where you are finding these "HP branded" cards for cheap??  because when I search ebay title and description for "hs2340" it just comes up with the normal $115+ cards that I was already looking at.

I don't mind spending $125 or so on a card if I'm SURE that it will work in my CF-31. Problem here is that all these cards are from Hong Kong and they haven't returned any emails when I asked about compatibility with my 31 AND, whats worse, is that these guys are usually morons and will say anything will work just to get a sale and say "if it doesn't work, don't worry, just return it"... Yeah... Except returning something to HONG KONG is AWFUL! (Not to mention the 2+ months it would take to get my money back...)

I know what you mean. I am sorry for not stating my sources. Currently, I am visiting Shenzhen (nearest Chinese city to Hong Kong) and I am finding these cards (along with Sierra Wireless) on every corner in the local market. The prices here are ranging from 20$ to 50$ so everything you find on ebay is originating from here and is 2-3 times more expensive than in the local market.

In your case, I am convinced that this card should work but I cannot say that with 100% certainty. I can give you the list of HP notebook models with this card so in case you know someone who owns one of these models you can try it in your toughbook.

    Here's the list:

I'm resurrecting this old topic... in case acko085 still reads NBR.
I've tried several decompilers, but none worked with the hp f5521gw driver package.
can you post the driver archive, or exactly what method you used extract the drivers ?

    thanks,
