Yesterday I left the house at 12:30 and got to my girlfriends parents house at 10:00 . I had the GPS running and the screen set so it would stay on . I found it very hard to believe that I got over 9 hours on one battery. This thing is awesome.

LED screens make a world of difference. I noticed it in all the units I converted.
I never checked the power consumption of an i5 vs Core2 Duo

I love my CF-31's LED display.... My battery lasts all day too.

But 9 hours with the screen on the whole time? Amazing!

I just checked it and it was set at about 60% brightness but you would never know it because it's still very bright.

I know I love the screen in the 19 Mk3 I have, just haven't "upgraded" yet.

    yep ...
the power requirements of an i5 are "skinnier" than those of the "older styled" dual core processors .
the management architecture of the second generation "i" series is very impressive .

swapping out ccfl for led back lighting because of failure of a ccfl tube or an inverter or just for GP is well worth it .
it is not the cost that is a big concern ... it is the tear-down and R&R that may cause some trepidation for/in some individuals .

it is about time to *do something* with my ASUS 24" monitor ... ccfl .
it is three years old and i use it for photographic work (and some other things) .
you can bet i will spend 20-30 bucks to "upgrade" to leds even if it means an almost full recalibration of the color/luminance/tracking .

I've been seeing this with the mk5 as well, mk7 is a bit better, but not that much. Even with batteries that have 200+ cycles, it still lasts easily 6-7 hours. I think the LED's as well as the processor are responsible for this.
