The CF-19 in question is a mk6 CF-192VYFX1M and has not recognized the Intel Centrino 6205 WiFi card. Most background pointed to updating the BIOS to correct switch issues with the device and to get windows and intel to play nice.
The BIOS shows V6.20L10 and the embedded controller shows V6.00L10. I tried to update the BIOS to the current version V6.00L12, but the program responds that this "model is not supported"?
I suspect that this is a custom BIOS, but I have not had any luck determining what to do? Does anyone have any suggestions?

What was the original card model number?
6200?
In my mk4 a 6205 card will not show up in BIOS. A 6200 will show in BIOS. -
Intel 6235 is standard for MK6.
7260 and Broadcom cards also work, but not their bluetooth
Does your laptop have factory installed Wi-Fi card?Shawn likes this. -
Thanks for your replies. I am not the original owner as it has 970 hrs on it, but I believe that the orig config was:
i5 2.6GHz, 8GB ram, 500GB HDD, GPS, Emissive keyboard, Dual Touch screen, Wireless ready with no WWAN card, Intel 6235 (as received 6205), Win 7 Pro 64 bit from recovery partition.
I am still stuck trying to find out what the "2" means in the V6.2 in the system BIOS and why it is different from the V6.0 on the chipset. The updated BIOS available on the panasonic website mentions a specific fix for the 6235 in the V6.00L12 version. I was hoping to get that installed as I ordered a 6235 off ebay, -
Let's back up a bit.
Where is the card not recognized? BIOS or WIN7 or both?
Did you turn on the mechanical Wireless switch? (Inside the SD card/ PCMCIA door)
Please post a photo of the BIOS information page.
CF-192VYFX1M
No Wireless, Win7, Intel Core i5-3320M 2.60GHz, No vPro, 10.1" XGA Touch, 500GB(7200rpm), 4GB, No WLAN, No TPM, No Bluetooth, Dual Pass (Upper:WWAN/Lower:None), 56k Modem (RJ11), Smartcard, GPS, Emissive Backlit Keyboard, No Absolute BIOS, No Drive, Toughbook Preferred
Having the Smartcard is a good sign it was a Federal Gov't model. No wireless makes it a good possibility of a custom BIOS. -
Here goes:
I did not see card listed in BIOS, but 6205 shows up with errors as could not run in win 7 pro 64 device manager.
Manual switch is in the on position

The driver that comes with the recovery disk or driver bundle does not support a card different than original. You need to install the full Intel driver set.
Go to Intel site and download and install latest drivers.
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/59471/Intel-Centrino-Advanced-N-6205-Dual-Band
This should be the win7 64bit drivers only package.
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/downloads/eula/25223/Intel-PROSet-Wireless-Software-and-Drivers-for-Windows-7-?httpDown=https://downloadmirror.intel.com/25223/eng/Wireless_18.12.1_ Ds64.exe
The 6205 card may work but just won't show in the BIOS. Odd, I know.
If the WIFI was disabled when the 6205 was inserted, wifi will stay disabled. In the past I have had to install the correct card and enable wifi. Then I could install a different card and it would work but not show in BIOS.Last edited: Apr 14, 2016 -
Is it possible to change the BIOS on this unit to accommodate WiFi?

If the BIOS is set to not allow the WIFI to function, that would make sense as I tired removing drivers, removing the mini-pcie card, rebooting, and re-installing the intel stuff, but it would still show the same device manager issue.
That is when I posted to see if anyone else had ran into a custom BIOS in the MK6 and how they dealt with it. The panasonic website has a version for a couple of mk6 versions "except" the CF-19[0/1/2/4][N/P/Q/T/U/V/W]***** and CF-190YC6SYZ which I believe this one falls into CF-192V. Is this going to be a Ethernet and WWAN connected only deal?
Info from panasonic website.

File Description
This utility updates the BIOS of Toughbook CF-19 Series to V6.00L12.
Please read the document (CF-19-600_BIOSUpdateProcedure-E)
carefully before using the utility.
Reason for Update
Improved stability of models with Intel(R) vPro TM Technology
and Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N6235.
Cannot be used with Wireless Management of Intel(R) AMT (Advanced
Management Technology is enabled.
Version V6.00L12 -
Usually the custom BIOS's have a M01 or M02 etc at the end.
Did you download and install the drivers direct from Intel that I linked? -
The use of the updated intel driver had the same result. The device cannot start (Code 10). The failed intel hardware test diagnostic shows that the wifi is not bound to a transport driver. The driver diagnostic test passed for Netwsw01 version 15.17.0.1 (4/30/2015). Version 15.1.1.1 (3/12/12) was used before.
I am going to uninstall the intel software, power down the unit and remove the 6205 card and power it back up and cycle everything. Hopefully tomorrow, the 6235 will arrive and I will install it to see it anything changes. I will start with the BIOS and go from there. If the 6235 is going to show up, would it be on the "Advanced Tab"?
Then install the latest intel driver again. Is the process to try new (different) hardware and re-install drivers what others would recommend? Shawn mentioned that it had mixed results? -
Sleep helps...
A thought just came to me. Did the WIFI card (6205 //6235) come from a Lenovo or a HP laptop /netbook? If it did, they will not work. Those cards are locked to those brands of laptops.
Advanced tab in BIOS

Shawn, thanks for the fresh review on the topic.
I tried to order an OEM 6235 that was set for Asus, Dell, etc devices to avoid that problem. I read the same HP and Lenovo branding issue applies with the WWAN cards too. I was going to work on that next since I found some 4G cards under $100.00.
I will update once I get the 6235 in hand. -
Good on the asus//Dell. One thing st s time is best.

Update - The V6.2 BIOS must not be custom after all. The 6205 in question must have been a branded model, dead, or not liked by the BIOS. This morning, I removed the 6205 and installed the 6235. Once the system booted, BIOS was entered and the advanced tab showed the Wireless section to be configured. So now wifi is visible in BIOS and OS. The newest intel drivers were installed when win 7 started. I will start testing, but 300MPs connected is where I wanted to be. Thanks Shawn for your input.
toughasnails and Shawn like this. -
For example, I was not sure about the screen type and I called Panasonic when it was first delivered and they told me it was a dual touch? I also see a TPM 1.2 listed on the device manager. I want to get all this strait so I can order a recovery CD as I thought they were based on what was installed.
I am most interested in the screen as I was trying to determine if I need to get a digitizer stylus. The pen that was included did not have a tether and the pen like the 6205 may have not been the correct one. The non-button stylus creates a small round dot on the capacitance touch part of its use. If the digitizer part was applicable, would it use a different screen pointing icon or be visible with the tip away from the screen? I don't mind spending $20 on ebay to make sure. If the added capability is there, I will make use of it. -
RECOVERY DISK is based on model number only. Get the model number from the bios info page.

Like Shawn said get the model number from the BIOS page . Then go here http://www.heartlandsi.com/contact/contact_us.aspx . $35.00 and a day later the DVD will be in your hands.
