    Hello all,

I just purchased a refurbished CF-19 MK1 for a client. I'm a CF-18 owner myself so I'm fairly familiar with this forum and toughbooks.

What I'm trying to accomplish is installing the mini PCI card from a Novatel USB720 USB modem from Verizon into this toughbook. My co-worker has done it on several cf-19 mk1's.

I installed the VZ Access manager, then plugged the usb modem in and installed the drivers, just as we have done on all the other cf-19's, then we shut it all down, cracked open the modem, pulled out the mini pci card and installed it into the toughbook, then turned it back on.

The modem doesn't appear in the windows device manager. When I checked the Wireless Switch Utility before installing the card, there was no options for WWAN. Now there are, but they are greyed out. VZ Access Manager also doesn't recognize the card. There is no option in the BIOS to enable the WWAN.

I tried this card in another CF-19 and no problem. I tried other working ones in this PC and no luck. I've also tried all sorts of dipswitch combinations.

Anyone have any ideas of what I can be doing wrong here? I wonder why it works in all the other identical CF-19's, but not this one. It has to be recognizing the card somewhat as the WWAN option doesn't appear in the wireless switch utility without the card plugged in.

Thanks in advance for your help.

On the board that the card mounts to there are 4 dip switches, at least there is on my Mk2. There is a diagram showing the positions of the switches for NONE, EVDO and HSDPA. Set the switches and it should work.

Ur co-worker installed the same Novatel USB720 USB in all the other CF-19s? Otherwise I would again think to tape pin 20 on the card....
