Hi all, my new to me CF-19 MK4, CF-19R6RAX1M seems to be running very hot compared to my Mk3.

Its working fine but all of the machine chassis gets hot, is this normal for i5 ?

    Thanks

Idle temperature for my Mk4 is running anywhere between 40 - 45 °C ie. minimum CPU load in normal room temperature. This peaks up to 55 - 60+°C on 100% CPU load which can get quite hot. Your environment temperature will also be an adding factor to the amount of heat produced eg. inside vehicle, direct sunlight, office environment etc.

The CF-19 Toughbook is a fanless design, it relies on the magnesium alloy chassis for heat dissipation. The CPU heatsink is attached to the top chassis just underneath the left side of the keyboard. This area is where most of heat is dissipated from.

It should be slightly cooler on the palm rest and touchpad section.

Thanks for the info guys, Ive just read about battery charging on the Mk4, it does say try to charge the unit with the power off due to heat of processor + battery.
I have been loading loads of software on it and most of the time it is plugged in, now i'll charge it when its off

    Thanks

    Hmm.
I think you love it too much :)
I'm charging my batteries inside and outside of PC. If you want there is a setting in BIOS for hot weather charging :)
