CF-19 OEM Screen Protector fitting advice please..

Looking for some advice on fitting the genuine Panasonic screen protector.

I've read the good advice on this forum thank you, but the Panasonic OEM screen protector doesn't give any indication which side is which (ie which side sticks to the screen and which is the outside) and has no tabs to pull off the front and back protective layers like the aftermarket screen protectors I have used in the past.



Can anyone who has fitted an OEM screen protector advise please?

It looks as if the screen protector I bought from eBay may not be a genuine Panasonic one after all. It has pull off sheets on both sides and no tape segment as shown in Sheepman's picture.

 

That's what I was hinting at.

One side should be tacky on yours. Maybe peel the corners up a tiny bit. Test it with something besides your finger. The fingerprint would be tacky looking...giggling.... play on words intentional.

I have used non-Panny screens before. Somewhere on here there are several posts on how to apply. Some crib notes;

1. You need a dust free area! Strangely enough... A bathroom with the shower on hot and all the steam knocks dust out of the air. Just sayin...

2. I use a mist of water on the base screen and then apply the protector. I use a credit card or other squeegee to push out all the water to a paper towel I have waiting on the side of the screen.

3. This way... If you notice a speck of dust, you can carefully peel up the corner and spray the dust off and reapply.

Using the technique above... You can adhere aluminum foil to your screen if you wanted to. (But you must wear your tin foil hat at the same time!)

Toughbook - thanks for your very useful and detailed info on screen protector replacement above and in numerous threads throughout the forum.

You recommend the ScreenPatronus version and I just wanted to ask what issues you had with other makes? Were they harder to fit or did they impair vision or touch screen responsiveness etc. I ask as the ScreenPatronus protectors don't seem to be available in the UK.

 

That was years ago and I am sure things have changed. I would go for Panasonic brand as their prices have come down substantially in the past few years.

Poor quality knock-offs can be a never ending source of air bubbles and some do not adhere well and will start peeling in the corners. Most Toughbooks only ever use the one screen protector they came with form the factory. So what is more important is how you remove it! I use a toothpick in an upper corner and slowly peel it off on the diagonal. Just remember you want to pull toward the opposite corner... Not straight out.

 

Funny thing is, I got that OEM screen protector back a few days ago ...(years actually) from Toughbook.

I just don't like putting them on. BTW you can lift a speck of dust with scotch tape. Look at the little bubbles and often there is a speck of dust causing it. I'm talking about a fresh install here.

 

I remember stumbling onto that guy who didn't know what he had... I think I bought 50 from him or something like that. I still have a bunch for the CF-29/30/31 if anyone needs a fresh one.

Good idea with the scotch tape. They do the same thing with the ballistic glass on my iPhone. It works well if you have a speck of dust or lint somewhere under the screen protector.
