Calling TEO!!!!
I want to put an OEM webcam into a CF-19CHBAXBM (MK1/touch).
What do I need to do this?
Thanks

Some one told me that the web cam version had a connector in the main board,
and there is only one RAM socket ,in order to have some space for the webcam,so for the basic MB you can't connect the web cam, further confirmation is needed! -

If Teo can put one in a CF-18 I bet you could do the same with a CF-19.

Audra got back to me from Heartland and said that it isn't possible on a MK1 because there is no connector for it....
-
Additionally, I just talked to Ray from Rugged Depot and he told me that they don't make a CF-19 with a webcam yet... the MK4's have a CAMERA on the bottom of the unit, NOT a webcam... Odd...

I'm using Microsoft NX-6000 webcam and it fits CF-19 nice. It's possible to walk or jump
with this webcam attached, no problems. Very good image quality and toughbook colors
))
I think Panasonic will never make webcam integrated - security reasons. -

I will try to integrate my microsoft webcam into top screen cover
Just for fun -
Just shop eBay for a cheap WebCam from a NetBook: I know for a fact that the ones used in the EEEPC 900 series were USB, and tiny tiny. I've seen them ranging from 5$-$15 the last time I looked.

...and we Richard Pryor on the video... -
There is a very big difference in video quality between these cameras
I don't want just a camera, I want the best -
Mmmmhmmm... You're going to have to do a lot of research then; from what Teo has said, the bezel on the 19s is pretty crowded. Gonna be hard to find a cam that fits and has the quality you want; plus, I think he said even the 19s still use serial for the touchscreen, not USB, so no USB already present in the LCD shell.

19's touchscreen is USB, but I'm not sure it's possible to use that connection

Hi guys!
We have the same problem now. We need to put webcams (with still picture option too) into ToughBook CF-19 MK2. Is there any option? I checked under the cover of the RAM slots, and maybe I imagine, but there seem to be metal connectors. Is there any possibility to put cam into the CF-19 MK2?
We also need GPS moduls, but I think it's easier. As I now, the GPS modul can be connected to the motherboard.
Thanks for the replies in advance! -

GPS is easy, check it out custom-toughbooks | eBay or check out his web page

I think there will be/is an option for cf-53 for webcam maybe one of those can be mcgivered into a cf-19?

Thanks, I've already contacted them, and they have GPS.

There is a Camera option on the CF-19 however, it is placed underneath the actual laptop and not the same spot as a normal Webcamera.
It's not a problem, it would be perfect.
But I'm not sure that it fits to the MKII.
As I know, the MKIV and V has this solution. Is it works with the MKII too? -
Ther are a few CF-19MK2 that has option for a webcam. Its connector is also located where the MK3 has. I have an MK3 unit that has option for webcam but it is missing. On Mk3 unit, there is only one slot of RAM coz the location of the second one is where the area of the cam occupied the space. The cam itself attached to the buttom cover of the unit.
Anyway, for the sake of modding. If you really need a webcam for a unit either on CF-18 or 19. It is quite posible I have done that on CF-18 using the internal USB and the location of the webcan is at the center top of the lcd. I used a very tiny webcan that I have taken out on the dead sorry( I mean sony) laptop. It was sealed by a silicon compound to prevent from any elements.
BTW, I am looking for a better cam to install on it and it use a USB with an Extra power source for ligth effect.

Thank you for the reply!
Unfortunately we would need a manufacturer supported solution, modding is not an option... There are two memory slots, so there is no space for webcam. -
