Hi, I recently picked up a used CF-19mk2 for outdoor astrophotography use. I was getting about 4 hours use off a standard win 7 build and decided to add an Samsung Evo 120Gb SSD. This pushed the battery life up to 5 hours but still isn't quite enough. I have a Hyperjuice 100w external battery pack and was wondering if these are compatible. The Hyperjuice puts out 14.5-18.5v at 4.5a and I'm wondering how voltage tolerant the CF-19 is.

18.5v will eventually make the magic smoke come out....

What battery do you currently have? model number color tab. You may have a base storage battery.

I will have to look up that model but most of those external battery packs have a adjustable switch on the side.

The CF-19 battery has a blue tab.
The hyperjuice battery isn't adjustable, although I emailed Sanho and they said in theory it should be OK,. The external pack is designed for MacBooks and they operate at 16.5v.
My concern is whether the toughbook VR the input, if not then it'll cook the internal when the external is fully charged.
I really need about 10+ hours of uninterrupted power for astro. I suppose I could get 12v lead acid and run it via car charger.

I also read Voltaic blog which suggests that the toughbook's charging circuit was pretty flexible

After measuring a fully charged Hyperjuice at 16.4v output and the OEM AC adaptor at 16.2v, I decided that ~1.2% increase in voltage wouldn't be an issue, so I connected it up and it works a treat. I now have ~160w of combined battery power pushing the CF-19 to ~14 hours under heavy load or ~18 hours normal load. Perfect!
