After examining my CF-19 a little closer today I found that 4 of the 12 screws holding the back panel on is missing... Does any one know what type of screws these are (i.e. metric, 4 x 10mm etc...)? Any suggestions of where I can easily find these screws would be greatly appreciated.

Hobby shop. R/C cars use these little metric screws by the score.

They are 2mm x .40 x 6-8mm for most of them, they are not all the same length. A company in Weymouth, MA has them in stainless for very reasonable money: boltdepot.com. No minimum order. My CF-18 has a full set of stainless socket head screws in the bottom, geezer bling!

Thanks Capt.! MSC (mscdirect.com) currently has a 40% off deal on all fasteners (Enter code fast40w).

I strongly suggest you try Bolt Depot, took a look at MSC's prices and minimum quantities. 40% off will not get them down to a reasonable price, and you won't want 25 pieces of the couple of long ones you'll need. Bolt Depot, 18.8 Stainless Socket Head, 2mm x .40 x 6mm: 9 cents, no minimum order. Plus, MSC only stocks down to 2.5mm, too BIG!

I have no financial interest in Bolt Depot. :D

Hey Capt.Dogfish could you please list the sizes for CF-28 display, bottom case (2 sizes), and the tiny ones used for HDD? My thread gauge has not arrived yet and I'd like to place a big enough order to make the shipping worthwhile.

    Thanks!

Small, med. small... and freakin' tiny!

Actually I need to buy a set from other than Heartland... Who charges a minimu of .87 cents per screws. But they do come in nice plastic bags and 1"X2"X3" boxes... EVERY single screw.... Now you know why they cost .87 cents each.

I bought some hex head cap screws for the CF-29 LCD cover. They look SO much better... Especially after I work with them for a few minutes. AND... If you ever need to work on it again... You will not stip anything.

All you need to do is to go into the hobby shop and say, "I need some screws like THESE!" and set them all down on the counter. You will be surprised how much cheaper they are.

Yeah... The LCD cover is held on by 2.5mm X 8mm and the big ones in the corners are 4mm X 10mm.... I just ordered several different types from a variety of sources. Things like the hinge cover screws cost .90 cents each from Heartland... Time to save a few wbux!

Ken, I'll list the screws you want this weekend. I don't believe you're going to get anything as small as the HDD screws from an industrial supplier. I think the keyboard connector cover screws will work for the HD caddy. You're in luck, the last 28 is getting loaded up this weekend and shipped out. No more CF-28s in Caps lazarette.

Thanks Capt. I did end up using bolt depot, however I had to buy screws for other projects to justify the shipping.

    Ken,
    1. HDD Caddy screws: 2mm x .40 x 1.5mm. Door hinge and bottom antenna cover screws are the right size, probably keyboard cable cover as well.
    2. Display cover: 2.5mm x .45 x 10-11mm.
    3. Bottom Case: The only ones I can get to without taking a bunch of stuff apart(which I am not going to do) are: 3mm x .50 x 11mm.
This is the part where you throw a few bucks at one of our members with a big junk pile.
