I pulled my CF-19N (MK5) Toughbook(1.2MHz , 1.5MB RAM, 80GB HDD) out of mothballs (purchased in 2008, I think) to use as an Intenet notebook/tablet, My home broadband connection is 50MIPS. My CF19N's wireless adapter is rated (up to) 54MIPS. Neverless the Interney connection is VERY SLOW -- almost reminds me of the dial up modem connection days.
I reformated the 80GB drive, re-installed Windows XP Professional (SP2) then -- updated to (SP3)--,reloaded all the needed Panasonic drivers, installed the IntelProWireless driver-configuration application to deal with the peculiarities of the wireless adapter (Intel ProWireless 2915AGB), ran an old Panasoniocs hardware * systems "test" (no problems), installed a new copy of Google Chrome and fell in love with it again for everday mobile use -- as a "touchscreen netbook," in spite of its modest 1.5GB RAM (max-ed out). I installed Microsoft Security Essentials and ran a Full scan -- nothing; not surprising since the only websites I visited were Panasonic Support * Microsoft Download Center. Any ideas?

    Welcome to the madhouse, Jamesusr!

The 2915 wifi card does not have N. It may be trying to connect it's A to your router's N. Look for a wireless icon and try turning off the A so it will use G to connect to your router. Update to the newest Intel wifi driver. Stop using the Intel Pro application for your wifi, use Windows native wireless controller instead. You may need to manually start the Wireless Zero Configuration service manually to see that option in the wifi Advanced page. (Hope I got the names right, don't have an XP unit in front of me right now.)

I'm not a wifi expert but we have some good ones around here so if that doesn't get things going let us know.

Hi, just saying... The connection is measured in Mbps Mega bit per second, not MIPS that is a processor referred name that mean Million Istruction Per Second.

The connection is not very influencing the perforance of your wifi, keep in mind that a internet connection (at least here in europe) is at maximum at 42Mbps, but rarely go up 10Mbps, with a cabled network, FO is better, so don't worry about the 50 or 54Mbps, the problem is probably in the settings. Take a look at them.

Ok something is wrong here, a CF-19N and you bought it in 2008 ?? I am guessing the 19 was a typo and it should of been CF-18 since the 19N was not around in 2008 :nah:

When I read the amount of ram and seen what wireless card he was talking about I though he was talking about a 18.

It is an 18, I think. Was on the 18 thread, and a 19 can't fit a 2915 wifi card.
