Howdy all,
My CF-19 mk2 does not want to go into standby or hibernate mode when I use the hotkeys (fn F7 or F10). It will go into standby if I close the lid or manually select it. Which driver should I try and reload?
Thanks,

Which OS are you running?
-
Windows XP. I believe SP2 but, I don't have the computer in front of me.
-
If you recently loaded the OS you need to make sure that all the hotkey drivers and programs are installed. The CF30 has the hotkey driver plus hotkey settings and hotkey application. Not sure if the CF-19 has the same... Most likey it will but you can check the Panny website to make sure.
Dumb question but you are using the Fn + F7 and Fn + F10, yes? -
Yup using the FN+Function key. I just got my driver disk from Panny yesterday so I am going to try and load/reload the hotkey drivers.
-
IF you are running XP, and you have the driver disc from Panny all you need to do is load that DVD and you will have everything. If it doesn't work after that it is hardware for sure.
-
Well I loaded the drivers from the CD. It got my screen rotation fixed, but not the function keys Fn+F7, F9, F10. I don't think it is a hardware issue as the other Fn +F1-F6 all work.
Does anyone know if the following drivers are for function keys or the keys on the front of the laptop (screen rotate, lock, etc). Docs on these drivers is slim.
hkeyplus
hotkey -
Just download hplsman_19_1_d060693
with hkeyplus and hotkey
hplsman is Hotkey Plus Manager -
If that CD didnt fix it, I don't know what would? That is supposed to have all the drivers. Have you called Panny? They will walk you thru each step to get you working. Those guys are as good as Garmin when it comes to support!

As good as GARMIN? Why would you insult Panasonic like that?
Those d-bags at Garmin have done NOTHING for the Nuvi 200W GPS I'm using now; when I got it I noticed the maps were 2 years out of date, so I called them. They directed me to their download page, where I could PAY $69.00 for the maps that SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON IT when I got it, and even after I escalated to tier 2, they STILL refused to make it right.
8 months later, the battery took a dump in it after steadily decreasing in capacity over a month; I called them on THAT, and they told me they "Didn't warranty battery life, but if I wanted to send it in to them, they'd replace the battery for $225..."
The damn thing only cost $139.00 NEW at the time!
As you can imagine, I was quite disgusted with this... I decided to go along and just keep using it with the power cord all the time until it completely kakked; It's been a pain not having the battery, but hey...
NOW... I've found a supplier on fleaBay :
http://stores.shop.ebay.com/smavstore__W0QQ_armrsZ1
who had the battery AND a cheapo set of tools to change it with for $12.99 DELIVERED, with a 12 month warranty... and HE'S IN THE US!!!
I've been using it with the new batt a couple days now and it runs just like it did when it was new; and I figure even being an el-cheapo, I don't see how the quality could be any WORSE than the original.
So YEAH... the next time I'm shopping a GPS I'm going back to Magellan again, or maybe try a Tom-Tom. Garmin can sit on it & twirl...

On the bright side, my Garmin is also "Mute-function" retarded... -
Everybody has different experiences. I have a Garmin 376C that I use quite a bit for my hobbies. I will agree that I have had some problems with it, none that acrtually made the unit not work BTW. The last time I sent mine in it was 15 months out of warranty. The XM weather/music antenna had gotten wet, I guess the seal wass cracked since they are water proof. The black rubberish on the keys was wearing offf from my fingers, and a couple of other minor things. I packaged it all up, sent it in, they had my CC # already since it was out of warranty. They returned too me a brand new unit, antenna like the day I bought it with all the accessories.
However, in your case here is my argument to you if I was them.
1. Garmin cannot control how old a product a vendor sends out. Garmin loads new maps on every new unit they build each year.
2. Garmin comes out with new maps each year. You must pay to have the latest info. There are ways around this. Hint Hint.
3. YOu know as well as I do that getting companies to warrant batteries is about as hard as anything. Panasonic states they have a 1 year warranty on thier batteries. They denied mine since it is not a manufacture defect. Such as it is not leaking, cracked, etc. My life went down pretty quick on it all of a sudden. I treat my batteries aexactly like there manual states. There maunal also states that it is normal for batteries to "Wear Out" over time. This was the basis of the guys argument. I just chalked it up to batteries are a pain in the .
Everytime I have called each company, except for the 7 month old battery, they have exceeded my expectations.
What year is your latest map?
