So I had XP on my CF-19, and the touchscreen was dead in XP. Upgraded to 7 to see if it would help. It shows in device manager and the calibration utils are installed. Won't let me calibrate though.
I removed the ribbon cable to the TS and reseated it. It looked like it should be OK. Cleaned around the edge of the seal as well. No luck.
Anyone have any further advice?

If you do not have any movement,or if the curser moves to one side and stays there ,you have a defective touchpanel
A common issue with newer Toughbooks
I am betting yours is a MK-1 -
This is the only problem of the fully rugged toughbook that I can't share to anybody the basic solution that I know for the fact that it works coz of the big impact to the riding public and specially those lurker and with those huge stock of the unit that has non working touch waiting to fix the problem and made a huge profit. I can fix any of those with non responsive touchscreen but you have to send the unit to me to do it. Don't ask me how or ask for an instruction because I will not tell to anybody else whoever he is or them. Sorry! Maybe you guys know why?
I am a buyer and seller too on ebay. If they know how to fix the problem easily. I can't buy a unit according to my budget. Others here including myself will be affected and we can not find a good/better deal anymore. Sometimes we need keep a few for ourself not all the way.

I understand completely why you do not want to share this info Teo
