    Hey guys, I'm back! Well I posted on these forums a long time ago when I bought my Toughbook CF-19 mk1 a few years ago, it looks just like I did when I bought it and nothings really been wrong with it since, except one problem which I learned to live with. I've decided to get off my butt and try to fix it anyway.

    It's an Unknown USB Device notification that keeps popping up in a yellow dialogue balloon near the bottom right corner of my screen. Whatever the device is, it shares a USB root hub with the Taiyou Yuden Bluetooth device. I got the annoying message to stop popping up by simply disabling that root hub through the BIOS, but then of course I couldn't use my Bluetooth. Not that I really use it for anything anyway. >___>;

    Anyway, what device shares the hub with bluetooth that is endlessly causing me problems, is my question? It says that it isn't connected properly so I'm wondering if a connection is simply loose or something.

    Also, I was wondering where I can get cheap monitor side covers, the screw size for the monitor side covers, and perhaps a cheaper emmissive type keyboard I could hack into my mk1. I bought some side covers from ebay, but they were a CF-18 version I guess, and I was able to jam them on, but they look horrible. And the toughbook-parts.com store is a bit too expensive for me.

    Try for the misc driver, TPM driver, "windows INF file" - AKA the chipset driver.

    Good luck!

    Thanks for the tip. Tried installing each one and restarted the computer, but still no luck.

    Description: WinXP Tablet, Intel Core Duo U2400 1.06GHz (Centrino), 10.4" XGA with Digitizer, 80GB, 1GB, Intel 802.11a/b/g, Dual Pass (Upper:WWAN, Lower:GPS), TPM1.2, GPS, Bluetooth, Verizon EVDO Rev A , No Drive

    Do you have the drivers installed for the WWAN? The Verizon card is a USB device.

    Look in the Device Manager and see what the Hardware ID is of the device. That may be a clue to the identity of the device.

    That's right! I've confirmed that the device is by Sierra Wireless, so it's probably the WWAN. Unfortunately, I've been trying to install the driver (though it may be the wrong one, it was the only one I could find), and it says the device isn't turned on or connected. I've opened the panel in the back and fiddled with the tiny switch things down there. Any professional help would be much appreciated.

    Good news is, I can shut down the WWAN directly and get rid of the message without affecting the Bluetooth. :D

    Oooh! Thanks for the driver. However I set the switches, and installed the drivers and VZ access and rebooted and everything. It still doesn't work, and VZ Access doesn't recognize the Sierra Wireless card.

    Ahh, now comes the problem that others have had. I don't know the answer since I use AT&T. I use Novatel, Gobi, and Sierra MC8775 cards.

    I assume you have WWAN enabled in the BIOS, the wireless switch turned on and the WWAN enabled in the wireless switch software. There is a firmware update available. I don't know what it does or if it will even apply. You can get it here:

    Yeah, all of it is turned on and enabled already. And I tried that firmware update and got the same message the other guy had in the thread you posted before, "This upgrade is not compatible with any device currently present and powered on."

    The last thing the guy in the thread said he'd try before it started working mysteriously is that he'd put it through a tree chipper. Maybe I should threaten it to work. XD
