Can the CF-19 with the Intel i5 chip use Windows 7 64 bit or is the 32 bit the only OS of Win7 that can be used?

I installed a 64bit version, the first thing I noticed was the communication drivers (no network, wireless or wired) are corrupt and not functioning.

I am trying to remedy this issue first and go thru the rest of the comouter but if the 64 bit OS wont work then I will back it up to the 32bit.....

I didnt read many threads that discussed the i5 chip and using Windows7 64 byte.

In addition the drivers on the panasonic site dont move up to Windows7, they end at Vista, can this update from the Panasonic driver site be used ?

Multiple questions, Im sure Multiple answers.

    Thanks all.
    Robo.

I found this on the Panasonic website:

Most 2011 models of Panasonic Toughbook® computers now have a Recovery partition on the hard drive instead of a Recovery DVD included in the laptop box. The only exceptions are the Toughbook F9, H2 and U1 Ultra which will continue to ship with a Windows® 7 Recovery DVD. Besides restoring the computer to its original factory image, the Recovery Partition can also be used to load 64-bit Windows 7 Professional (32-bit ships by default from Panasonic).

    HTH

Your model # would help but, I see drivers for both the Mk4 and Mk5 for Win 7 64bit on the Panasonic website.

Okay. I installed the 32 bit Windows 7 and the netowkr drivers are not working correctly. Im talking about the WI-FI and the RJ-45 port....
The chipset is the 540 with 1.20GHz with 2 Gig ram.

Are there driver for the Wi-FI that need to be downloaded?

What is the site I can download them, the panasonic site only shows the Viast and XP OS...

    Thanks

I think the "66" in your model number means it was built to order for a company/organisation etc. I have a 52 with a number pair and no wireless or WWAN card I've tried will show in the BIOS.
Deliberately disabled for the original purchaser is my best guess.
If you look at your BIOS version you will probably see something like "L35" after the usual characters.
The only cure as far as I know is to have Panasonic replace the BIOS with the standard version.

    Model Number:
    CF-19RCRC66M
    Status:
    DISCONTINUED
    MSRP:
    $4,792
Description: WinXP Tablet (Win7 COA), Intel Core i5-540UM 1.20GHz, vPro, 10.4" XGA Dual Touch, 160GB, 2GB, Intel WiFi a/b/g/n, TPM, Bluetooth, Dual Pass (Upper:WWAN/Lower:GPS), GPS, Rubber Backlit Keyboard, Gobi, No Drive, Toughbook Preferred, replaced with CF-19ACUC6

OK, I don't know where you looked for drivers but, there are 42 records for CF-19 Mk4 Win 7 64bit drivers on Panasonic's US website. There are a lot of drivers to install to get everything working correctly.

Looks like I'm posting misinformation, sorry about that.
Configurator's 404 again but I shouldn't have assumed Panasonic would avoid using number pairs for standard models should I?
    Sorry again.

I see that there is a package of drivers for the laptop... I did download the zip file, started to install the drivers. I noticed the video wasnt able to update in addition to the sound card. The WLAN and network looked like it installed but the network and WLAN are not working properly. I attempted to do a update driver but that didnt solve it either. I was hoping that the driver update package downloaded would solve a multitude of the issues but that wasnt the fix. I downloaded CF-W8_Win7_Drivers, alot of the information in the zipped file includes drivers for Vista... The drivers for the video showed that it couldnt support due to not being compatible.
    Anyway, any thoughts? Thanks again.

All toughbook drivers must be installed in a particular order to get them working right. On pannys site should be a file with that order. Use IE when visiting pannys site, other browers are finicky with it. Also, just a hunch, but i think you are missing the misc driver for your model.

Why would you download the CF-W8 drivers?

Yeah I followed the order from the pdf the first install went of then the video driver was corrupt... from there it was not a success. I read and followed the directions... was the correct package downloaded for the laptop? It seems to be not the right drivers from the pan website.

OK, look at the attached screenshot. It says 42 records found. Those 42 files are the drivers you need to download and install. Some you may not need. Follow the order in the Installation Instructions.

Do not use the CF-W8 drivers in the zip file. Maybe it's confusing that Panasonic put the download link for the CF-W8 drivers at the top of the drivers page. The link is there no matter what drivers you are looking for.

Thank you dp for the help... all systems are go. I wish Panasonic as you stated had not said there was a zipped file for the computer at the header of the page... confusing. But thanks again!
