TB Tech could you elaborate on that? I had a bit of a problem with the small cable. it was hard to get to lay right. So far no problems all the keys work and it lights up, but the more you know and all.

I cannot give specifics, but I have been informed by a psc reseller that these have to be installed with a small margin of error for them to work. he did say that the national service center has a jig that can do this without issues as I had inquired about getting a few for my company

My new keyboard is already installed and works fine
And while backlight is not so wonderful as on the rubber keyboard (there it looks more expensive), it's veeeery fast (no typing errors really) and backlighted -
Backlit on the emissive is working like any other backlit I had before. But I know what you mean.
But yesterday surprised me when I type on a full size keyboard, how inconvenient it is to have the keys do far apart from each other. You can't type as fast on those big keyboards....
I think I really use my cf 19 way to much. -
3 months... and it's dead.
After some water (normal use of my CF-19) many keys do not work anymore. Just no reaction at all.
Spacebar etc.
Will try to repair it, but it seems this keyboard is not water resistant.
Reinstalled the rubber one. -

Oh dear....not good.
For YOUR usage....what constitutes "Normal Use" ?? -
For those interested in emissive keyboard for the CF18/19 I have a few left and am going to dump them for $100 and shipping. You pay the paypal fees though. Still a steal at this price. If you have concerns about buying just look up my for sale ad in the for sale section.
Send me a PM.

No kidding, I don't like the sound of it stopping working after "some water".
I've worked with the regular/normal/non-backlit keyboard in driving rain and that was good.
Did you have an older/heavily used keyboard?? I can imagine the menbrame going hard/cracking/tearing after much use or with age. If this was a new keyboard I might get to stock another backlit one as I don't want to be without it. This is so much better than my regular keyboard, not to mention the rubber one I have around (to type several pages on that is still -

Well....it seems "In" to use these in the shower, in the sink, in the car wash, yada, yada, yada....At some point In time, I've no doubt someone who is an Instructor for the Sub-Aqua Association will be using one at work.
If these KB's are designed for the MK4 they should be certified to IP65....does the emissive use the same KB bezel as the standard KB or should it be different??
Just askin' -
eeehm, for the 19 there is no bezel. the keyboard just drops in and two tiny metal plates are screwed in place to hold it there. The water-seal underneath the keyboard is for the main body, the keyboard itself should be waterproof as a unit.

Oki doki....that's what happens when you start "thinking for yourself"....it starts going ping-pong.
I think I thought there is a two-piece bezel, one each side of the screen hinge that helps to prevent water ingress under the KB....but as you say....it's a sealed unit, so any ingress below the IP65 allowances would constitute a manufacturing defect.
Noting that waterproof & water resistant are Not the same. -
I understand the difference between waterproof and water resistant.
My normal use is all conditions use: light rain/snow (because it's not comfortable for me to work under heavy rain/snow), bathroom (no plunge (is it correct word?), of course, light steam), some offroad dirt, shaking (very strong, while driving offroad). Child (11kgs) walks over my CF-19 in open and closed positions. Likes to do it very much
) Presses keys, touches the screen... Helps me to work
))
Last action - bathroom. Again no immersion. Spacebar stopped working in 1 hour. Fn became "Fn" and "1". After that I've tried to dry it with cold hairdryer. Strange action for me, but I've tried.
After that I've tried to wash it under the water tap. Doing it sometimes, when it gets very dirty. Much more keys stopped working. Hairdryer has no effect again. Looks new, but...
Changed keyboard to the rubber one. No signs of water inside laptop, of course. Signs of water under keyboard, but it's normal.
Standard plastic keyboard is working well after many water procedures too.
Now I think that emissive plastic keyboard is for office managers, not for real field use.
Beware. -

Buddy....after the trouble you had tracking one down it's a real PITA.
It should be as water resistant as your standard KB....but it's not.
Are you taking the $200(+ shipping) hit in the pocket or trying the RMA route? -
Thanks.
I've already contacted the seller - buy - and waiting for his answer. Hope there is a way to return it, but I don't believe it)
At least we'll have a statistics)
I will test emissive one after some days. Maybe it will work again. But I can't trust it anymore. -
Are there tricks to last longer in the cold weather when working on a laptop, other than much more and warme clothing (though ít's really, really hard to type with gloves on!!)?
But do put the keyboard in a bag filled with rice, let it stand for several days and it might suck the moisture out of the keyboard.
Just for the record: working in a condensating high moisture & high temperature environment like a sauna is much different from the low pressure jet that the CF-19 is tested for.
But it's a bit worrying... -

You could hit them up on there facebook page and ask why after doing this after only "five ounces" of water. lol -
