Still not had any luck getting tablet buttons to work on mk6, on my Mk4, between the screen brightness buttons is a little green light, the mk6 that lights not illuminated.
Does that light, light all the time or only when the correct drivers are installed?
I've checked ribbon cable under palm rest and that's there and plugged in

On my mk6 it lights without a caddy and it also lights with win7 32bit and all drivers installed.

Not that easy just to swap the mobo on the Mk4 case. You need to swap every guts of the MK6 to MK4 case. What I mean is that there is significant changes on MK6. The PCB board that hold the touchpad, the tochpad itself, the button switch for rotation, Brightness and etc. Also the heatsink. You cannot make it works correctly if you don't do this.

Not swapping anything, the Mk4 is like brand new with low milage and is my main diag machine.
The mk6 I got it in pretty bad condition but will bring it back up to scratch slowly, just sorting out all the little niggles with it

    Thanks

Its not to beat up but it's a wreck compared to my Mk4, the mk6 you have in parts does the tablet switches have any sort of electronic wizardry or are they just switches and are they easy to remove. I could do with a top lid if you've got a spare

    Thanks

I will pull the part and find out if it's the board and cable or what when I get home.
I have 3 spare tops but they all have holes in them unfortunately so I have been using them as test pieces for the thermochromic paint.

Be careful when removing the switch assembly.
It should come out as an entire unit, not just the front cover.
Look at it from the inside opening. You will see the pcb. Try and remove the pcb and front cover.
Otherwise the cover pulls away from the switches.

Maybe some heat from the inside will loosen the adhesive.

My mk6 CF-19 is Just in the middle of major surgery, a BIG THANKS to Shaun to guiding me to where the problem was. It's just now going back together, that's not an easy task for me with sausage fingers, I think within the next hour it should be all stitched up, then it's the big switch on, i hope to see the FP switches with a little green LED illuminated and not any smoke

    Thanks

Tablet buttons, little green LED working :D
The only slight problem is when I fully tighten the screw nearest the wireless switch that holds the plastic ram cover thingy on the switch gets very tight to move, the plastic is seated properly, could the m/board be slightly out of line, have i done something wrong when reassembling it?

    Thanks

I cant post photo as only got mobile phone at mo and photos to big (MB) for forum, as you look at the base, inside with front buttons top left of you there is a plastic piece that the battery ribbon cable clips onto, it also is part of the WiFi switch and covers, has to be removed to get to the mem stick nearest the mother board.
Its got, i think the only 2 screws with fixed washers on holding it down unless as you say I've put the wrong screws in?

    Thanks

Black screws with washers = bottom case screws. Unless there is only two of that size....then they may fit the hard drive or battery connector. (since they are in pairs)

    But I'm not a CF-19 surgeon....

They are silver and they are definitely inside screws, i can see what I've done, ive put the 2 screws that hold the plastic piece on in a separate place, ive now found them but need to know where I've gone wrong with the other 2 with the washers

    Thanks

After a night out and quite a few vodkas, I woke this morning early as fresh as button and thought those 2 screws with washers must be from possessor / heatsink area, maybe ?

Internal photos of a CF 19 mk6 with camera.
I can not find any screws with washers. I think your mk6 has been apart before. Those may not be for a CF19 at all.

This is my CF19 mk6. MB has never been out. All I did was add a Intel 6300 wifi card and custom 3rd antenna. GPS and finger print. But nothing with any of the screws you were working with. So the stock screw location should be correct.

Thanks Shawn, what I done was, checked depth of threaded holes, found 2 deep ones under the battery end connector bracket so the 2 with washers have gone in there, Ive still got 1 lone mid length saved to go back in somewhere, next time I'm at PC with Internet I'll have a good look on big screen at the pics you posted, it's a little difficult on phone screen.
I've put the correct screws in the plastic ram cover and the switch is working a treat

    Thanks again

    hindsight ... is always 20/20 .
my memory aint what it used to be ... things like the screw situation do not stay *locked in* for more than a few days now .
sooo ... there are a couple methods i use to help me out :
pill vials with a color code on them and a rough drawing of the device with the color code of the screws "what goes where"
break the device down into sections and sort the screws that way
use those small super-suds magnets to hold the screws as they are removed/replaced ... yeah , ever have 'em scatter when you sneezed or the cat decided to "help"
envelopes ... you can write on them and they can be sealed and taped to the *big chunks* if need be

yep , i recall the days when i could tear something down , wait 6 months for parts and then grab the right screws out of a soup can on the first go .
