Im 99% sure that this laptop has never had a bios update. Or at least not in the last year or so.

Ive done the win7 fresh install following the procedure on this site for the CF-18. Had pretty good results overall except for a few bits.

The one bit i didnt follow in the guide was to update the bios though.

I notice the latest update for the bios for this model (CF-19 mk1 XP servicePk2), shows a download for , XP and Win7 32bit.

So are the chances are that i will have better results with the Win7 install on this later bios which clearly states it is for Win7
and can i do this upgrade now. then go about installing windows again?

am i right in saying that the bios is saved onto the rom? so any software and HDD related messing around wont affect the bios?

    EDIT
actually ive just noticed that the search on panasonics driver site seemed to clear out all the search fields and that updated driver is actually for a CF-C1A whatever that is.

The CF-19 bios is from feb 2008. So i probably am up to date.
    Annoying

i just read in the CF-19 bois update info that you can upgrade it for vista and downgrade is for XP. does this mean that if i upgrade for vista that XP cant be installed?

im thinking about upgrading the bios, installing XP and all the drivers to get the toughbook working fully then doing a win 7 upgrade and see how that goes. Ive only done fresh installs of win7 before and could never get the touchscreen to calibrate or the bottom mouse scroll to work.

I have not checked this myself on the 19 but it sounds like the same thing we had to do to the CF-30 MK1...if we upgraded from XP to Vista/W7 we had to upgrade the BIOS and if we ever went back to XP we had to down grade the BIOS.

And I bet you never upgraded the BIOS did you that time. You should update the bios then do the full install.

I'll try it that way then. That would explain why some vista drivers don't work.

Just be happy you have a BIOS update! Neither my CF30 MK2 or 3 have ever had one. I want one!!!I like improvements.
