    'ello all!

Recently salvaged a CF-19 mk1 from an auction house and was in the process of performing the usual upgrades (SSD, RAM, GPS etc.), and was wondering whether the mk3 screen was compatible?
The brightness on the mk1 isn't terrible (yet), but the mk3 would be an obvious improvement.

    Thoughts on drop-in compatibility?
    Cheers,
    D

    Welcome to the Toughbook Forum

I know the MK2 will but not sure about the MK3 . Is there some thing wrong with your 19 screen now ? How many hours is on your 19...F2 on boot up, first page bottom of BIOS.

    Just shy of 13,000 hours.
To be fair, the screen isn't particularly bad, but both a mk3 screen and motherboard are taunting me on eBay - and I find it hard to resist a project.

Probably just making work for myself, but the upgrade to 64bit and led backlight are very tempting.
Then again, if it ain't broke...

I went from a Mk1/Mk2 to a Mk3 and there is a BIG difference in the screen. Other than that, unless you want a newer chipset/graphics not really that big of a boost in performance. A SSD performance wise would speed it up alot.

Not sure what these 2 parts will cost but I have seen MK3's sell for $327.00 to $385.00 (no caddy/battery) so I would sell yours the same way...keep the caddy/battery and your done  .

Nope! unless you can rewire the backlighting circuit system of the MK3 LCD panel. It can be done but you need an schematic of both system.
