    Hi all,

Now that prices have come down, I'm attempting to migrate my hand writing system (OneNote2010/win7pro32sp1/CF-19KH) to a Dual Touch with hopes of gaining palm rejection. I hope you guys will verify my understanding of the Dual Touch digitizer before I go buy another stylus.

Searches here seem to indicate that the Vista desktop cursor should follow the stylus without screen contact. This cursor does not move unless the stylus (or fingernail) contacts the screen. Do I understand the Dual Touch correctly; should the cursor track the stylus without contact?

    Hardware:
    CF-19KDRAX6M (BIOS), CF-19DGBNDL01 (chassis sticker)
    BIOS: V3.00L19
    Embedded Controller: V3.00L16
Stylus (lacks button, has been bent enough to deform plastic)
Device Manager lists Wacom hardware (056A/0093)

    Software:
Vista Business 32 sp1 clean from recovery disk
Device Manager has no yellow bangs

    Regards,
    Rick

Here! how it works. when you are using the digitizer stylus(TS1) the native TS(TS2) will be disable and vice versa. It means you can handrest your hand on the screen while doing your note and etc. This is for digitizer only but not on TS2 and at the time you lift up your hand and set aside your digi pen. The TS2 will take over. Hope it helps.

    Rick,

Here is the factory configuration, based on the BIOS model number:

    Code:
    Model Number:
    CF-19KDRAX6M
    	Status:
    DISCONTINUED
    	MSRP:
    $2,000
    Description: WinXP Tablet (Vista COA),
    Intel Core 2 Duo SU9300 1.20Ghz (Centrino2), vPro,
    10.4" XGA [B]Dual Touch[/B], 160GB, 2GB,
Intel WiFi a/b/g/n, Dual Pass (Upper:WWAN/Lower:WLAN),
TPM, Bluetooth, No Drive, Toughbook Preferred, replaced with CF-19RDRAX1M
The cursor will follow the stylus without touching the screen if you are using a digitizer stylus, with the button on the side, but it sounds like you are using the touchscreen stylus. Get a digitizer stylus and it should work.

Wow, thanks for the quick response ohlip and mklym! Your description of dual touch is exactly what I want. I do have the stylus with switch (plastic button gone) but the circuit may be damaged as the stylus was bent enough to permanently deform the plastic around the switch recess.

One more question before I buy another stylus: Given the non-matching model number on the bottom of the chassis, could the hardware be incomplete?

The "true" model number is on the first page of bios. If different from the bottom then bottom label means naught. Could have been a replacement bottom case, could have been a change in the motherboard. Edit!

Reading closer the 19DGB***** is not a common model number. I was worried for you thinking some swapping had been done. And if they swap the mobo why not use a touchscreen instead of a digitizer.

So let's ask Shawn. :D CF-19DGBNDL01 :hi2: Confused as usual. But I looked it up. In the bios password the D = dual touch in a MK3. What this other number is doing I know not. It is more common than I thought. Found this:

That's my conclusion. WMBA is ram. Why they are relabeled is a mystery though.

Just a follow up: the digitizer works with the new stylus P/N CF-VNP012U. I now have palm rejection in OneNote 2010 on the as received Vista! Next I will try to move to clean Windows 7 32 sp1 without killing the digitizer. I'm a little worried as I failed to locate an obvious driver on the Panasonic site.
    Thanks again,
    Rick
